Quote:Fuck the French.
agreed, but a seperate debate Rooner.

We went to war.
and we are occuppying a country and from the looks of it we will be there for years. Every day our men die from sabotage and attack....
I ask was it necessary.

Bush Hated Iraq cause they tried to kill his daddy.
and MANY in his staff and cabinet have a pro Israel agenda.
I think this war was thrust upon us for dubious reasons because of an agenda that existed pre 9-11.

Bush is starting to take heat because it appears there were many lies of greater import than blow jobs.
I thought this thread was about the French?
No doubt we were duped into this war, doesnt take a phd to know that. But I still say it was needed. Unfortunately, we, the American people, are going to pay the highest price for it. With the lives of our soldiers. And honestly, I dont even know if its going to do any good. But if we didnt do anything, and 5 years from now, Saddam is causing some kind of mindless havoc, everyone will say we should of done something. Just like we did when we encouraged the kurds to rise up and then left them high and dry. The people over there are so simple minded, that I dont think they can function in a modern world. Their religion holds them back. Thats not to say Islam is bad, just antiquated. The middle eastern version of Islam needs to be updated. Again, thats my opinion.

Did I go on a mindless rant again? damn you Ken.
unlike the progressive thinking of Christianity that Falwell and others of his ilk preach here?

Enlightened? In what way, exactly? You're referring to a nation who up until a few months ago probably couldn't even locate Afghanistan or Iraq on a world map.

Despite the fact that this country is made of primarily of immigrants, or descendants of immigrants, we reman blissfully unaware of the world scope around us. It's something the rest of the planet perceives as arrogance. That's why they won't support us. It took the 9/11 attack for us to realize the shit that other countries (Israel, for example) deal with on an almost daily basis.

Hell, England has to deal with the IRA; Israel has Arafat and Fatah; Russia has Chechyan (sp?) rebels blowing up theaters; even France has some secret terrorist cells running amuck.

Who did we ever have to deal with before 9/11? Timothy MacVeigh? A couple of Columbine misfits?

The fact is, other countries have had to deal with rogue terrorists for decades. Whether they negotiated, or used force to deal with them, doesn't matter. The U.S. policy was always "Let's sit both sides down and form a peace treaty". Until we got attacked. Then the policy changed to "Let's go in, and blow up anyone who looks at us funny".

All of our sudden bluster is fueling the arrogance the rest of the world perceives. It's why they saying we're on our own.

i used the term sarcastically, b/c we seem to view ourselves as such, yet act very different.

Dont get me wrong ken, I think ALL religions are fucked. Tis why I dont practice any religion. But the different version of Islam in the middle east are so bass ackwards its not funny. The idea of religion in itself is stupid. It basically was a form of controlling simple minded people in the past that has developed into business and money making machine. Lets not get this one started, Im sure Ill piss some people off.
Percieve our nation as arrogant? fine. playah haters, the lot of them.

Ultimately, this whole scenario we're in now, with this "war on terrorism", is a case of "damn if we do, most certainly doomed if we don't".

France says at first "don't go in"...then we find SOME weapons, hidden in random schools, hospitals and places of worship. THEN France says "ok, we'll back your efforts up America/UK...

as long as we get a piece of the lucrative restructuring/nation building pie".

Douche bags.
