This one completely baffles me. Why is Eddie Guerrero all of a sudden one of the most popular wrestlers on Smackdown these days?

Don't get me wrong, he is a tremendous wrestler, but he's been a classic heel more times than a face and frankly he's better at it as the "bad guy". Now that he is "supposed" to be a heel, the fans are going nuts for him.

Now I just read the latest Smackdown results and once again the fans went crazy for him. Hell, it was even listed that he got the biggest pops of the night. Then when he and Benoit had a segment together, it was Benoit that got booed.

Maybe one of you can explain this, because I just don't get it.

Remember back around, oh, mid-to-late 90s, WWF tried like crazy to make Steve Austin the most hated man in the organization. Instead, his charisma and "fuck you" manner caused fans to embrace him, baffling Vince & Co. till they finally said "Screw it" and allowed Stone Cold to become one of the most popular figures in WWF/E/whatever history.

Eddie's behavior, for now, seems to run more along the lines of comedic heel rather than bad-ass. If WWe wants to make him a true heel, he'd have to do something more heinous than beating up his partner or pulling cutesy little cheating moves. Then again, WWe fans would probably still love him; no one wants to be spoonfed on how to react to a wrestler.

(sorry if I rambled, I'm too exhausted for coherency)

For being exhausted that was a damn good explanation.
Thank you Peachy. Smile

I think this whole thing with his car isn't helping matters either. The fans seem to love that shit when he drives to the ring.
Hes just so damn likeable.
Now I just read that Eddie Guerrero will turn a full fledged heel at the conclusion of his match with Chris Benoit at Vengeance.

I can't wait to read what lame stunt they pull to try and accomplish this. Rolleyes

So, Rhyno coming out, turning heel and attacking Benoit is the WWE's idea of getting Guerrero over as a full fledged heel? Rolleyes
Well,

If anyone saw that match last night and considering Vince made it the curtain jerker for the PPV, personally i would've made the APA BARROOM BRAWL invitational as the opener but since it was the worst match ever put on paper by the "Powers-that-be" in WWE land. Now, getting back to the Benoit- Guerrero match other than the main event which was surprisingly enjoyable for me personally. For wrestling purists this match should've been much better especially at the end where Benoit's ally RHYNO gored him which allowed Eddie to use the frog-splash to get the pin. Only time will tell how long Vince allows Guerrero to hold on to that belt.

Enough, for now Cool
