no i think his point was that when youre young you drink because its like the forbidden fruit but then when youre allowed to it doesnt seem as fun anymore so you wont drink as much as you did when you werent allowed to.

i think if hanging out with these people for 3 years hasnt turned me into an alcoholic yet, i am ok for the rest of my life
