We budget our stuff but we just seem to fall short a few months a year. It all depends on how much overtime I log.

sidenote (still related to asshole gas stations):
Yesterday I left work to see I needed air in my tire. This has been ongoing for I had the tire repaired and it has since begun losing air daily again. (I am getting new tires when I get paid.) I pumped it up with my car tire air pump thing enough to get me to a gas station to use their high powered air pump.

Remember I'm broke but I do have a quarter and air usually costs a quarter thats not that big a deal that the air that floats around us should cost a quarter. I mean the gas station is offering the machine to get the air into the tire. I hobble down the road to a Texaco and pull up to their air pump. Air 50 Cents!!!! what the fuck?!?!?! I drive another mile to a Hess station and god bless you Hess! Their air was free! Like it should be!. remind me to buy one of your hess trucks Rolleyes

Luckily I got home and this morning My tire is flat and my gas tank is empty so I took my wife's car to work and am scheduling the appointment for new tires. Uggh can we go back to the days of hunting and gathering?

Hess is awesome. Of course their air is free.

Poor Header. Sounds like this is a rough time of year. For some reason, right around the holidays everything seems to start going wrong.

If you can still get Hess trucks, let me know. None of the ones by me seem to have any left. Sad

I haven't gotten a Hess truck since I was 10. :disappointed:

When tax returns came around, my wife and I had the foresight to put some money aside in a cd that will be up on the week of Christmas. At least we know we won't be broke when it comes time to travel at Christmas.

I have the tendency to just put money I have towards things I won't necessarily need immediately but am going to need within a few months (because I am moving). If the only way for me to not touch money I'm trying to save is to put it in a CD then that's what I have to do. Any money my son gets for birthdays or Christmas goes into Savings bonds so we can't touch that either and that shit doubles in value down the road anyway.

I'm so pathetic. :disappointed:

Actually, that's smart.

I started a Christmas Club at the bank last year (late, but better late than never) and have like $965 to spend for Christmas (of course I'll probably pass that, but it's nice not to have to worry about it at the last minute).

I cashed in a bunch of savings bonds this year that I've had since I was a kid. They reach maturity in 7 years (I think), but they continue to receive interest for 20-30 years after that. There's a website that you can check out that will let you track the value. I think it's savingsbondguru.com but I'm not sure.

And I buy 3 Hess trucks every year. One for my son to play with, one that goes right up in the attic and the other for the boyfriend. This year I haven't gotten any. Sad

Saving Bonds suck. They double after 25 Years. That's like 2% return. Hell, Enron stock earns more than 2%.

The ones I've been getting double in 10 years.

And I recently cashed one in that I got when I was like 10 and I'm 25 now so there ya go.

I'd have to double check, but I cashed in something like $250 worth of savings bonds and got close to $2,000, I think.

That's a cool truck!
