Apparently she felt she had to stay till she couldn't work anymore, simply because she olny had a certain amount of time to go on vacation or family leave... Having 5 kids will do that.

6 pregnancies in say 10 years?? I doubt she had any vacation. The longest period of continual employement was probably 16 months.

does working as an EMT offset the amount it costs for daycare etc. I'm sure all 5 kids are still at an age where they can't be latchkey kids. She probably didn't have a valid reason to be working anyways.

They get paid peanuts in a lot of places, I'm not sure how it is there, but I know here the starting salary for an EMT is borderline $30,000/yr
