The center of the circle version was AWFUL. It always started with the Gym teacher throwing the first shot, which was basically like having this 30 year old man unleashing his pent up anger on a group of 3rd graders.
The seperate teams version came along when I got to middle school. We'd even have Hockey nets as goals, and one kid would be the goalie. 3 goals wins the round. The girls in class would employ the same tactics as fish. They'd all huddle together in large groups and you could just destroy them in clusters.
Then there was the acrobat kid, who was like fucking Jackie Chan jumping around not getting hit. I always had an awesome arm, but I was always the tallest lankiest kid in class with the grace of Michael J Fox piloting a helicopter.
