That's funny. I'm considering taking on some chickens.
I have 10 acres and 2 barns on the property, none of it used at all.
A family member asked if they could use a barn to store chickens, and offered free poultry and eggs in exchange.
My initial thought was "YAY, saving more $$$$", but, if he doesn't show to take care of the little beasts, I assure you, I won't.
If I allow it, I can't wait for the day I pull in my driveway from work and one of them has escaped.
I'll run the the little clucker down and laugh like a sonofabitch.

I'll agree with the first part, and assume the second part isn't literal.
Kids don't learn right and wrong anymore. Religion, at it's core presents the very basic notion of right and wrong. Kids are so fucked up now because as an entire society, we've gone away from basic right and wrong actions and have decided to find out the why's and place the blame on everything but personal responsibility.
Church and reliqion is good if only to form a base from which kids can eventually grow up and have an idea of what it is.
