O&A meet with Sirius Satellite Radio... - Tenbatsuzen - 05-12-2003

Page Six reports that O&A, along with their agent, met up with executives from Sirius Satellite Radio. No other details were released.

Also, Steve Kingston (the Ambercrombie and Fitch midget) is no longer PD at K-Rock, as he is focusing on "Blink 102.7".

So, would YOU get Sirius to listen to O&A?

Im pretty suprised by that. As I recall O&A were pretty against satelite radio. But at any rate, I's probably pay the rip off of a monthly fee just to listen to O&A.

Is satellite radio governed by the FCC? Even if it was, the fact that it is a private service that customers pay for, as opposed to commercial interests, would mean they could get away with far more.

I think the FCC rules only apply to free air. I'm pretty sure even cable TV isn't under FCC control, but most stations choose to follow the guidelines. That's how something like the South Park "shit" episode becomes possible.

But yeah. satellite radio is uncensored. :grin2: I just hope that if they pick one, they pick XM.

That's mostly true, but like all else in tv world, it all depends on advertising. Generally speaking, if you're a cable channel that doesn't have sex and profanity, more companies would be willing to advertise on the channel. So as a result, most channels choose to impose the FCC standards with the hope that they can make more money with the advertising. In the case of South Park, the advertisers on the show are basically aware of what goes on and they continue to sell the spots because of its popularity. That's why it gets more leeway with outrageous material, but guys like Steven Lynch still get bleeped during their comedy specials.
