It was the day after my new promotion, my office was moved from the church st side of 4wtc (the small black building just infront of the towers) to the vessey st side.
I walked in the entrance of 2wtc around 8-40 totally oblivious to my surroundings, I had my walkman on and was just listening to some tunes. Took the elevator upstairs and when the doors opend i saw everyone by the windows.
Someone told me a small plane hit the tower, I looked up said "oh shit" and to this day (I don't know why) I went into my office and turned on my computer.
I still have that sickening sound in my head, it was a loud rumble, a crash, and it was weird there was a second or two before... I felt the heat on my back (i wasn't facing the window) and saw an orange glow)
Everyone around me was screaming, i was just staring blankly out the window. People were yelling "get away from the windows" but I couldn't finally one of the girls grabbed me and pushed me toward the stairs.
We walked outside and it was the most surreal thing, there was dust, and papers. I picked one of the papers up and it was from some canadian bank, the paper crumpled but in perfect condition.
I put the paper in my pocket and we started walking away from the building, it wasnt a run, it was a walk, like i was going to lunch or something, no sence of urgency no feelings of danger.
We walked by JandR music world and for the first time it hit me, Im watching tv of events that are happining just mere feet away from me.
Then we start walking to the entrance of the Brooklyn Bridge, and it happend this gurggling sound, and like a vacumm a whoosh... My god, it haunts me as I type this, at that point some emergency services guys are at the base of the Brooklyn bridge and they said we CANT walk over.
There is this hot wind with dust, not alot of dust, but the sounds they were incredible, something I never wish on my worst enemy.
We start walking along the FDR heading toward the Manhattan Bridge, people were walking by us cover in this thick matted goop like white mud.
we bump into this young couple from california, she was wearing slippers he was in a t and shorts. They were staying at the Marriot and just hauled ass out of there.
We make it over to the Manhattan Bridge, and in the distance we can see the cloud of smoke but no buildings, we were almost half way over the span when the bridge was buzzed by two figher planes, EVEROONE hit the ground screeming, mothers, kids, hard ass gang bangers all on the ground when we realised it was one of ours we all got up looked around and for the first time im my mind I knew we were at war.
We come over the Manhattan bridge and there are men, Hasidic men, on the rooftops of these small buildings ALL standing up... ALL with a rifle in their hands. I dont know what they were protecting but they wern't fucking around.
I walk to downtown brooklyn and my and my friends enter a bar, the trains were not running yet so we just watched tv in shock.
I still have that piece of paper, its nothing special just some arbitary numbers no names, just numbers and the Company name.
My office was moved not to far from where it used to be, and I still freak out at stupid shit. (loud planes, cars backfiring..)
Sorry I rambled, this was supposed to be one of them.. 'something happend on 9/11' im a dick posts... but I couldnt do it.
