Messing up our children properly.

I was in Catholic school for the majority of my education and you pretty much learn to regurgitate what nuns want you to say without paying any mind to what it all means. Church is the same way and it's pointless. Most people just sit there and think about football later or things like that. Priests have for the most part forgotten their role and pretty much just stand up there and voice their opinions about current events and try to tie them into the gospel.

I didn't learn that all this was bullshit until I studied theology in college. There I learned how to read a bible properly, taking into account when where and by who wrote it. And thus anyone that runs around quoting scripture to fit into their own agenda is most likely an idiot.

If giving your kids a base of religion is important you need to teach them how to read the bible properly and that it is a book of stories and the stories were written for a reason.

If religion is not important and you just want to give your kids some values consider the scouts. Or if you are afraid of pedophiles find some comparible version of the scouts that is 'safer'

My kid is 2 and doesn't go to church, because trying to make him sit down and shut up for an hour and a half is ridiculous if he has no idea what he's doing there. I might take him later in his life but I haven't decided yet.

I'm going to try to get him to follow the family path and join the scouts but I'm not going to force him to stay involved if he doesn't want to.

Let's face it, he's going to end up on a clocktower with a sniper rifle playing god at age 30.

I'm doomed.
