This show does a good amount of research before writing scripts in regards to the psychology of criminals. It's accurate in that respect to a point of almost being scary. Dutch's analysis of the Rapist was founded on real concepts taught to detectives, etc.

The only thing that REALLY pisses me off about this show, to the point where I want to throw my TV through a window is a small detail blatantly overlooked by their wardrobe dept. The LAPD and 99% of Depts in the US wear their badges over their hearts. Why the hell are the uniformed officers on The Shield wearing it on the wrong side! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
