God is a baseball fan
#1
As I sat at work watching my beloved Mets get humiliated again at 800 Ruppert Place last night, I made a comment to my boss, a die hard Yankee fan.

God is a Yankee fan. How else can one describe the successes of this team over the past 100 years without mentioning the possibility of Divine Intervention. He has granted them 26 world championships and countless other league and division titles. He has brought in top notch players over the years, guiding the hands of owners and players to make deals that benefit the club.

Derek Jeter spoke of the ghosts in the stadium, It was God, how else can you explain Aaron fucking Boone or Bucky fucking Dent?? The Curse of the Bambino had a little help from the Man upstairs. It's obvious God has a serious problem with Boston.

This is not to say I am converting, to a Yankee fan, however. I do believe also that the good Lord has a sense of justice. He will, and has punished the Yankees for commiting at least two of the Seven Deadly Sins. Greed and Pride. Examples: Joe Torre comes to town and they win the world series in 1996, 1998, 99, and 2000. They pick up big name players, in trades and free agency, showing little loyalty to certain team members who really gave it their all. There is the greed. Many fans walk around with this huge chip on thier shoulders(as do some of the players, and the owner) after winning all those championships. Pride.

We come now to 2001, the Yankees face off against Arizona in the World Series. Arizona beats them. They move on to the ALCS next year, only to have their asses handed to them by Anaheim, who went on to win it all. Pride again, by underestimating the Angels. Showing how our Lord and Savior is a just ruler, especially since the team that beat the Yankees is called, the Angels.

Last year, Yankees/Marlins, a team that fired its manager about two weeks into the season. Nobody expected them to get anywhere, yet, they won the wild card, and then went on to beat the Yankees rather soundly.

In closing, I do believe that God is a Yankee fan. However, He is also being just and fair in his punishment of the Bronx Bombers. For the greed of their owner and the pride of its players and fans, especially the fans who jumped on the bandwagon after 1996. Think about it, folks. Stranger things have happened.
