I thought it was a really funny episode, but not as controversial as they made it out to be.

Well, they did say during the commercial that the version on the DVD is much worse than what was on tv. The lyrics to Peter's song is apparently altered for TV.

The only "controversy" FOX wanted to avoid in not airing the episode in the first place was all the Jews running Hollywood calling all of their Jewish lawyers to sue them, and then FOX's Jewish accountants having to tabulate just how far in debt the network would be after trial.

I brought something up to my boyfriend after we watched it last night.....Ben Stein did the voice of the Rabbi in the show, correct? And the episode was "offensive"....so why did he flip out on O&A when he misunderstood them and thought they said "jew down" when they said "chew down"??
Does this make sense?

The whole "Jew" thing got old really fast. Like i said before, i think it was way overhyped.

it's quite simple actually.

Ben Stein appearance on O&A = NO $$$ thus then being able to declare racism shenanigans and the like at will.

Ben Stein appearance on Family Guy = $$$ thus then reading his lines like a good lil Jew and cashing in that check.

everyone has a price.

Another example of Stein's hypocrisy would be the fact that he hosted a show where the sole premise was to try and take his money. Hoo hoo, look, a Jew, fighting to protect his money...hoo hoo.

the tamest south park, is far more controversal than this episode. i did think it was funny, but not controversal. and i was wondering when lois's mom was talking about the monkey next store, was she referring to a black guy? the second time i watched it i starting wondering if that might have been the offensive part.
who has the dvd, i want to know what the original lyric in the song was

oh, this is crack, not tricia, by the way
