From <a href=http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1631396 target=new>ESPN.com</a>:
Quote:ATLANTA -- All-Star Dany Heatley will face more serious charges after the death of Atlanta Thrashers teammate Dan Snyder, who never regained consciousness following a horrific car crash.

Snyder died Sunday night at Grady Hospital, the team said, six days after sustaining massive brain injuries in the wreck. He was 25.

Police said Heatley was driving his Ferrari at about 80 mph on a narrow two-lane road last Monday night when he lost control, spun off the road and smashed into a brick-and-wrought-iron fence.

Snyder was a passenger. <b>The car split in half</b>, throwing both players into the road.
As a result, Heatley will now face vehicular homicide charges, which can land him in prison for 3-15 years.

This is also <a href=http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2000/0112/285010.html target=new>somewhat reminiscent</a> of when Bobbie Phills of the then-Charlotte Hornets died in a car crash, again as a result of speeding.

80+ mph on narrow two lane road ($10 says it was nice and full of curves as well...)

he obviously pushed that Ferrari beyond his skill level otherwise he wouldn't have spun out of controlled and had such an accident, one where both passengers were EJECTED from the car.

so, yeah, it was STUPID.

yippee, he'll get fined. In more important news, non celebrity stuff, three dead in crash on 12th Avenue in Manhattan this morning. Car crashed, caught fire, 2 dead in the car, one pulled out and died at St. Vinnys. Fire Chief told me they found the ENGINE of the car a block and a half south of the actual crash. That tells you how fast they must have been going. And that is a bad turn(over by Chelsea Piers).
I'm not quite there yet

<a href=http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/news/WABC_100703_carcrash.html target=new>WABC-7 just carried the story a few minutes ago.</a>

All three people in the car were teenagers.
