Cover songs, a disturbing trend

Worst cover I ever heard was Tori Amos doing..."Reign In Blood" by Slayer.

Hmm. . .what about Phish's "White Album" performance - that was pretty damn good.

And for all the shit they dish out, Metallica has done some pretty damn cool covers - their version of BOC's "Astronomy" off of "Garage, Inc." is fucking STELLAR - and their medley of Mercyful Fate songs rocks too.

Tori does some great covers, "Reign In Blood" aside - her version of "Smells Like Teen Sprirt" is, in my opinion, more emotional than Nirvana's original.

But without a doubt the best original band that plays covers EVER is Phish - they can play any song by any band from any genre, and either make it sound EXACTLY like the original or totally different but still cool. There is not one band out there that covers the range of bands Phish does.

And if you don't believe me, just look at this list of cover songs they've played throughout the years - EVERY SONG LISTED HERE IS A COVER, PEOPLE! BE DIALING!!

I like cover songs but not when they cover The Beatles. I feel it's something sacred. I even make CD's consist only of cover songs.

So, they're a great band. I also like that they cover glorybox by portishead too.
