Say a prayer
#1
I wasn't sure where to put this. So here goes. As some of you may know, from knowing me outside of the boards, I have had to deal with cancer in my family, both immediate and extended.

Quick recap. I lost my uncle in 01 to stomach cancer. My girlfriends parents both fought cancer, her dad had leukemia and her mom had a rare form of skin cancer. He's in remission and her mom lost her fight a little more than a year ago. Around the same time my girlfriends mom began her treatment, my mother was diagnosed with lymphoma. She had her chemo last year and last Christmas she was told she was in remission. About 2 or 3 months ago she was told it came back. It either never left, or the chemo had beaten it up so bad it was hardly detectable on CAT scans and such. She went back for more chemo and her hair fell out pretty quick, after the doctors told her it wouldn't(they all suck). I genuinely feel for my sister, who has to deal with a lot of this because she still lives with my mom, and I am over an hour away, along with the rest of my siblings. It's not easy shaving your own moms head on thanxgiving day, but I decided to try and maintain a light mood about it to help my mom out. Telling her that her barber needs to be fired. Humor is good medicine, and it helps me deal with the sadness.

Anyway, my mom got admitted to the hospital this week for some heavier chemo and a stem cell transplant. I offered to donate blood to help her out but apparently it will cost more to have it donated directly to her as opposed to it being given from an anonymous source. That makes a whole lot of sense.

I sat there tonight talking to my mom on the phone and she was crying, about how she wanted to be home and not cooped up in a hospital with bad coffee and decent food. Can't say I blame her. I am not in any way asking for the sympathy of the members of this board, cause I don't want to have a pity party. I ask that you say a little prayer for Mommy BlueEyes, as well as for anyone else close to you who is sick. My mom is a tough lady, especially after raising me and three siblings and having a cop for a husband. I tell her that if anyone can beat this it's her. This is just another bump on the road of life. Thanx y'all.

That really sucks bud. It really doesn't make much sence about the whole blood donation thing either.

Anyway, I'm really sorry to hear about this and will gladly say a prayer for her and your family.
