Obviously, this request was posed in response to my smilie research, in which it was clearly illustrated what a bad poster is. Apparently 420 was too intimidated to ask me this directly, so he opted to create a whole new thread instead. Can't say I blame him though. I'm sure Bruno Sundov was pretty nervous the first time he came face to face with Michael Jordan.

a good poster keeps people responding or reacting, be it negatively or positively.

everyone has a role, you can break posters into 3 major categories....

A) the intellectual type who simply enjoys discussing serious topics.

B) the person who posts just to get a reaction out of people.

C) the dumb happy poster who doesnt add much in terms of intellectual content or even funny or entertaining content but plays nice with everyone.

like ying and yang, one needs the other in order for things to flow. you need someone who is prone to react for the posters who seek this result to be successful. you need dumb posters for others to point and laugh at them. you need posters who post things that cause people to react to get others to react. its the natural order of things.

take one out of the loop and the system breaks down. so if you're smart, stupid, or shocking, you're a good poster, cause ultimately you help keep the ball rolling.

Not everyone at once can be the funniest or wittiest...and yes, some are just good at keeping the conversation moving but might stink at being funny, patsy posters are essential as well, etc...

I take turns at being all three but also:

D) makes jokes whenever possible to make SOMEBODY laugh; if one person laughs, the post is deemed successful.

Regardless of how corny the joke may seem, it is still posted. Somebody has to post the easy joke.

i think some people have the ability to be more than one type of poster except for the happy dumb poster. there are actually 4 subsets of this type of poster:

A) the kiss ass
B) the dumb joke guy
C) the attention whore
D) the garden variety whore who posts pictures of herself naked in hopes this might bring her acceptance but in most cases brings her ridicule.
E) the verbal whore who tries to lure people into thinking she is sexy but is too horrendous to even bother becoming the type D poster.
