Imus stated that O&A are back

This morning between 8 and 9, Imus (I was watching on MSNBC) stated that Opie and Anthony were back and that they would be on Satellite Radio. It was very short and Sid Rosenberg (Sports Guys) even made a comment that they were relentless. The way it was stated it seemed like they would be back on the air in the near future. And a email from opie@opieanthony.com states: "The boys will return sooner than you think!"

I can not go out and say this is from the AP, but just want to share the info.
I can't find anything on the web either, but let's see what happens.

You should short Sirius. Stock's currently trading at 110 years worth of revenues.

$17,000 per subscriber when they get $120 a year in revenues from each.

And it's not like they can leverage that business to anything else? At least cable companies can move into cable telephony, video on demand, broadband internet. What the hell can satelitte radio give you?

Satellite radio is a bad move. Censors are what make radio (good radio) funny. If there are no rules to worry about breaking then you might as well just go off and do a stand up routine (and you might draw a bigger audience than what you'll get in satellite radio). You need that tension to make good radio. It's no fun having to deal with bosses and censors or whatever O&A have had to deal with. But if there is no anger or tension, there is no stress, and consequently no comedy. Might as well put Bob Saget and Carrottop on the radio in that case. I don't want these guys to be happy. Stern is happy and he sucks now as a result, just as O&A started to really suck at towards the end with their shit-awful contests. I'll never get satellite and neither will most other people. Nobody's gonna be able to hear them at work only the couple thousand people who have that shit in their car. And how long is a typical commute home on average, 30 minutes? An hour maybe if you're (un)lucky? So if I were them I'd just stay away from satellite, however they have proven to be quite poor when it comes to that whole pesky "decision making" stuff.

I agree with DIG, I think some of the funniest bits are when they have to get creative to describe stuff to get around the sensors. For example, bangkok crocksucker, madonna and her eleven abortions, and anytime dice calls up and comes up with retarded new terminology. priceless.

I don't think they are going to sattelite. Norton mentioned at his show a few weeks ago that they were going to be tied down pretty tight with the Sirius contract, such as not being able to mention SFS3 and being fined like $10,000 every time they slipped up and mentioned it. Stern is an angry old man who hasn't been funny in my opinion since his wife left him. Which is around the time I stopped listening to him regularly.

Wasn't he referring to if Sirius bought out their current contract and put them on immediately. That doesn't necessarily mean that they won't go to Sirius following the end of the contract. They wouldn't be tied down after that. I hope they dont go on sattelite regardless.

Why does everyone assume that just because they're on satellite, it'd be an all-out, uncensored f-fest?

Technically, they might be allowed to do that, but who knows if that's what Sirius would want. (For that matter, who knows if that's what O&A want- I think they know the amount of humor they get out of speaking in letters and dice-isms and such...)
Sirius will be trying to gain customers. A complete curse-o-rama would turn off a lot of potential listeners. XM has boomboxes and home units now so I'm sure Sirius can do that, too. They want people to be able to listen at home or at work or at least around people who aren't just the ones who'd love all the cursing.
I think O&A will have fewer limits there, especially on what topics they can talk about, but I don't think they'll be unlimited.
