Get Ready for 'The Simpsons' Movie
Look for a feature-length 'toon featuring Homer's clan in 2006

Potential plots for a 'Simpsons' movie are being kept secret.

After 15 years, Homer Simpson is finally ready for his close-up. Variety reports that a feature-length animated movie version of ''The Simpsons'' is in the works. Series creators Matt Groening and James L. Brooks, along with five other past and present writers from the series, are preparing a script for the movie, which would likely hit the big screen in 2006.

''Simpsons'' scribe Mike Reiss spilled the beans about the secretive project earlier this week to DVDFanatic.com. ''They've wanted to do this since season two. It's been 13 years of wanting to do 'The Simpsons' movie,'' Reiss told the website. ''Finally Fox said, 'Let's just do it!' We never had the greatest idea that was compelling but Fox said, 'Maybe if we start paying you, you'll get inspired.' And sure enough, it worked!''

Reiss didn't want to say too much about the premise, telling the website he hasn't even divulged it to his wife. ''We've got a very good and interesting idea, and it's different from the show,'' he said. ''You know, it's like the 'South Park' movie where it's just a bigger, longer, amplified version of the show.'' So does that mean Bart will meet Cartman? Cowabunga!

FOM, that sucks to hear; you're missing out on one of the greatest TV shows of all time.

I wonder, what will this movie be rated when all is said and done?

I smell a PG-13 rating...call it a hunch.

Hell, at least I hope it isn't rated G.

Boy the way Glen Miller played,
songs that made the hit parade,
guys like us we had it made,
those were the days,
and you know where you were then,
girls were girls and men were men,
mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again,
didn't need no welfare states
everybody pulled his weight,
gee our old Lasalle ran great,
those were the days!
