Rock bands replace howard stern

Metallica Replaces Stern on WTFX/Louisville
FMQB reported on April 6 that WTFX/Louisville had cooked up a clever way to temporarily fill its very large morning drive opening. The Fox -- one of six Clear Channel stations coming to grips with life without Howard Stern -- had snared 3 Doors Down and homeboys Tantric to tee off a month's worth of Rock stars-turned morning hosts.

Now the station unveils a morning lineup for the rest of April that features some of Active Rock's essential core artists, including Metallica, Staind, and Godsmack. With Kentucky Derby season getting underway in Louisville -- the race isn't until May 1 but the festivities start this Monday -- the Fox will have plenty of action to get its mind off the loss of its high profile morning man.

Here's the next two weeks' lineup:

April 19: Tantric
April 20: Saliva
April 21: Disturbed
April 22: Staind
April 23: Fuel

April 26: Godsmack
April 27: Metallica
April 28: Metallica
April 29: Puddle Of Mudd
April 30: Locals Brackinridge and the 'Vile Billies

sounds like a real hoot.

Almost as exciting as Peter Frampton replacing Leslie Gold.

Boy the way Glen Miller played,
songs that made the hit parade,
guys like us we had it made,
those were the days,
and you know where you were then,
girls were girls and men were men,
mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again,
didn't need no welfare states
everybody pulled his weight,
gee our old Lasalle ran great,
those were the days!

I guess that explains why Howard's buddies in Staind weren't willing to write a song for him about the whole FCC/Clear Channel situation. Howard talked about it for 30 seconds one morning after playing an original, FCC-bashing song by some random fan.

Howard talked about something for just 30 seconds? Get right out of town!

Either that, or I was thoroughly bored of hearing him whine, so I just put on a CD. I would like to say I just changed the station, but that would be a lie...there's NOTHING on FM radio in the morning & ESPN Radio doesn't come in clear enough on my ride into work.

why do people have to apologetic for listening to stern? I listen every morning on my way to work. I generally listen for about 10 minutes total everyday so does that make me a bad person or a bad O&A fan?

I stopped listening when he started in with the whining about losing the six clear channel stations everyday. That makes me a good republican.
