I'm not really sure why people are jumping all over me here. All I did was suggest that whomever reserves the field should be reimbursed. I didn't think it was right that someone should go out of their way to get the proverbial ball rolling and then get stuck with the tab. I assumed the cost of the field would be over $100, which is a nice sum to ask someone to fork over.
My comment about the food, etc., was not to imply that there's not enough, but rather that EVERYONE should bring SOMETHING, whether it be money, food, supplies, etc.
And yeah, as JJ mentioned, I was at one of the games many moons ago. Didn't play, just watched, but we brought our own drinks and watermelon for everyone. And no, we didn't chip in for the field, but it was never mentioned, or we happily would have.
