Ehh, it's a conversation piece. When you're not funny you've gotta work with what you got, you know? Thanks Ninny.

Have you learned anything from this?

yes, posters will be punished due to childish whims of poor modding and strict jaded notions from one admin.

class dismissed!

Yes. You are wonderwoman, fear your mod powers.

Thank you for the lessons my hero.

Your constant AND WRONG harping on the negativisms of post whoring/chat threads, and chiding us like children warranted it.

Unlike Arpi, i do not bring up private and personal info.

i still love you. but i will feel free to use those previously aforementioned tactics the same way in this debate.

GIP & Hottie sitting in a tree
K-I-S-S-I-N-G....

Actually when you're naive enough to say something like you did Hottie it is only natural for a Mod to stumble upon it and make it your quote. You fucked yourself on that one chach.

This has been discussed before. And as far as I know, no answer was reached then, and it still really hasn't been reached now.

I, for one, have always felt that OT (either here or back on OA.com) was designed for all the topics and threads that did not fall directly into the specified categories of Movies/Music, Wrestling, Tech Stuff, etc.

Wanted to discuss favorite drinks? The benefits of marijuana? Relationships? Jokes? Chat? Do it in OT.

The hodge-podge nature of it is what made people hang out in there so much; there is something for everyone.

Now, all of those topics I named above pretty much have their own seperate forums... but do they really require them?

Case in point, in the Pub, the last active thread was two days ago (as of 7/13), has 9 posts, but the first three are all by the thread's creator. Granted, I think the idea of a forum where drunken members can feebly try to type coherent stuff is funny, but it doesn't dismiss the fact you're still relying on folks under the influence to try and remember which forum to post in (much less hoping they can think straight enough to log in and do so).

And as far as the complaints that everything turns into a chat thread... well, yeah, that's sort of how conversations work. Do you like to sit around with your friends watching a football game and do nothing but talk about the football game? Or do you find that your discussion about what's happening in front of you take tangents into all sorts of varying topics, occasionally returning to the main focus (in this case, the game), before divurging again?

Folks argue that the game threads are a problem because even though they get a lot of replies, only the minute few are actually posting in them. But in the so-called "normal" threads,a topic is brought up... and a minute few with any knowledge of the subject discuss it, have their say, and then the thread dies (unless it's carried on by repeated "Yeah, I agree" or "disagree" posts which add nothing to the discourse). Some may the game threads are "mindless", but they require more creativity than many of the threads which litter all of the forums.

Discussion perhaps, but a debate would imply that I'm considering both sides.

Tangents aren't the major problem, it's the threads that never had a point to begin with.

And let us keep in mind, YET AGAIN, that no one has ever said you're not allowed to post such things. Merely changing the forum. Nothing more.
