The O&A File Sharing Ring

Thanks to a post by ThaBrkrs349 in the SU forum of wackbag.com and what seems like a huge boost in people downloading O&A audio off me I have an idea on how to get O&A audio to people in an organized fashion and get everyone sharing and expanding their O&A audio collection. Follow along:

1- People who are interested can send me their AOL Instant Messenger screenname and a list of the O&A files they have to share (I use a program called Print Folders 1.4 ).

2- I then create a link to the list in my Audio section of my site along with contact information.

3- Then whoever wants to get files, agrees to add their name to the list and share their files as well. As their collection grows they can send me an updated list to post.

4- All sharing would be done thru AOL Instant Messenger. I would also have a AIM Buddy List people can download and add to their existing list that would be updated daily.

Its been two days since I started the the O&A File Sharing Ring and it's doing well. We now have 13 members including myself sharing bits, full shows, stand up acts, soundboards and more!

I hope others give this a chance and join in. Even if you have one file to share, this is a great way to make your collection grow. And once your collection does grow, you give another new person joining in a chance to expand their collection as well by giving them another option to find what they need. The reality is that as more and more people get their collections growing, they have more material they can share with people who do not know O&A. We as an O&A community can do what we can to spread the virus and make the O&A army stronger than what O&A left it when they were cancelled!

I will be gone this weekend so there will be no updates to the ring until sunday night. Anyone who is interested in joining please feel free to send me the following:

1. The AIM s/n you want to use to share the files

2. A text file of the file(s) you are sharing. Don't worry if you only have one to share, the idea of the ring is for you to join, have your collection grow, and then give others the chance to have their collection grow as well. Even if you have one file to share that is more than enough to join in

3. A email address you want me to add to your profile on the site so people can use to get in touch with you if they are looking for a bit or show only you have.

I also wanted to let people in the ring know that thanks to fedexed thru bigdaddyb6473 I have the Anthony appearance on the Howard Stern E! Show available for download. The video clip is 2:25 minutes long and is pretty funny.

Also, anyone in the ring should talk to LiteWithoutHeet. Not only does he have a shitload of O&A files to share, but he is sharing a HUGE collection of mp3s for all to enjoy.

Well after 40 days we now have 39 members in the O&A File Sharing Ring, all sharing O&A files and swapping like crazy.

I know some people have questions like:

"what if I don't have alot of O&A files to share?"

that's fine, even if you are willing to share 1 file that is good enough! Eventually your collection will grow and you will be able to share more with other fans.

"I don't want to share my files with everyone out there either!"

That's ok too. I actually prefer people share files only with people in the ring. But you can set your privacy however you want.

There are alot of fans already helping out in the ring. If you want to join them, all I need is the following:

1. The AIM s/n you want to use to share files thru

2. A text file listing all the files you are sharing

3. a email address to add to your profile so people can contact you if they need a file only you have and you are offline.

All the other tools are available on my site:

1. A link to the latest version of AOL Instant Messenger. It is recommended to use the latest version so there are no connection problems.

2. A small nifty program called "Print Folders 1.4" that makes a text file of every file in a folder, including subfolders.

3. I have also uploaded a AIM Buddy List you can download and add to your existing list which has all the members of the O&A File Sharing Ring included. I usually update it daily.

I just need to address something regarding the ring:

IF YOUR NAME IS NOT ON THE LIST AT HTTP://SBLUEMAN.COM, YOU ARE NOT IN THE O&A FILE SHARING LIST

I have gotten numerous IMs from people in the ring letting me know that many people are trying to access files off people and then lying about being in the ring. The idea of the O&A File Sharing Ring is for O&A fans to help each other out by SHARING. There are many out there just looking to leech and not give back to O&A fans. THE FILE SHARING RING DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY. We have 60 members, and I already had to delete one member for not sharing.

I just wanted to thank everyone who has joined the O&A File Sharing Ring in the first month since it was opened. We have grown to a total of 82 members now!

It's gotten to the point where I am going to have to look for other options besides AIM for people to share files since AIM's newer versions do not let you edit the amount of buddies on your list. What we need are these features:

* make it a private ring where only people signed up can share files.

* be able to allow each person to be their own server to share the files and also be able to have any member access the other members files without it having to be a direct send.

* Have a system that PC and Mac users can use. Also have whatever is setup to be simple to use so PC novices can use it as well.

* Have a way for people to share files without them having to give out their IP addresses to do so.

Any suggestions are more than welcome. I am amazed at how people have responded in one month. Thanks again to all of you that joined!
