It's the 20th Anniversary tonight (Who cares? I don't know) and I'm wondering out of the 20 years what is your best MTV memory. I'm going to have to go with Beavis and Butt-head, underrated show, not as stupid as people think it is.

The narrator in Fight Club is the man we will be, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho is
the man we want to be
Eliza Dushku- Hotter Than
Britney

last time, the insects got me, but

This is the song that doesn’t end, yes it goes on and on my friend. Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was, but they’ll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that doesn’t end yes it goes on and on my friend. not much anymore, I basically watch Much Music now.

But I liked Remote COntrol and Idoits Sevant(???) Those were the best shows on the network. The girl on the Idoits show was HOT. I also liked to check out the chics on the Grid.

Pretty much ALL of their cartoons kicked ass, esp. Liquid TV, Beavis & Butthead, Aeon Flux, The Head, The Maxx

Dead at 21 was a pretty cool show, but did it get cancelled before it ended? I can't remember...

My favorite thing though? When they actually played good music, before Dial-MTV became TRL and mostly---THE HEADBANGER'S BALL!!!!!

I could list my favorite shows:

Remote Control (with Quinn, Oberman, Sandler, & Kar-i ~~Kaar-ee~~) because it was video based
Aeon Flux, Young Ones, etc...

But my favorite thing about MTV was the videos. At one time, there were no commercials, just videos. At one time, showing the Wall was groundbreaking. Now there are no videos. No music. Now it is one teenage masberatory queef fart.

My favorite part about MTV is that it is a very high channel and is not in my surfing range

220, 221, whatever it takes.

Mtv is now just a commerical device aimed at peddling corporate culture and items to today's youth. Once upon a time it used to be a Music Video channel. Now it's just one big commercial that panders to the common denominator and to demographics with undisguised glee, with a complete disregard that it has completely whored itself out.

MTV's best (back in the day)...

Young Ones, Beavis & Butthead, 120 Minutes, Remote Control and the fact they actually played music videos of new and dynamic material

MTV's best (NOW)...

They barely play videos, and if they do play it, it's just pure drivel sent out by the record company conglomerates. Most of their shows are crap.

I used to love Beavis and Butthead...now the only thing I really watch on there is Jackass when I am home on a Sunday night.

It really is scary how one television network has taken total control over pop culture. If its on MTV its a bonafide hit....really fucking scary considering some of the shit thats on there....

Your mind won't let you say that you want me
Your mind won't ever, never let you have what you want
I feel your hunger to taste me
Still your mind won't ever let you say
Your kind is just the type that should use me
But your mind won't seem to let you have
The opportunity to abuse me, abuse me
Your mind won't even let you feel

Savor the addiction,
savor the affliction, savor me

This is a ditto of most posts here.

Remote control was a great show.
The young ones was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Great show

Headbangers ball was great back in the day also.

And of course Beavis and Butthead, very groundbreaking.

Now I love that I dont have to watch it.

MTV: The old cartoons. Everything else sucks.

MTV2 : Rock videos every weekday night from 9-10.

Was, and still is.. the graphics. They have the most innovative screen sequences around. They are constantly changing which helps keep things from getting stale.

Aeon Flux was definately my favorite. Was it all about spies dressed in latex or just the two episodes I caught?

I loved the Young Ones !!
(Although I watched it on the Comedy Channel, a few years later)

This site has Transcripts of the show.

JackAss is too funny. Kurt Loder turns me on. And I agree w/Ahlexus, good graphics.

Aeon Flux was all about the chick spy in latex (with the foot fetish) That show was spawned from the shorts on Liquid TV.
(Which was another great show.)

But my all-time favorite MTV moment was during the video awards...Pee-Wee Herman Coming out on stage asking "Heard any good jokes lately?" His first appearance after the masterbation thing.
Getting a standing "O"...Say what you will about the man, THAT TOOK FUCKING GUTS!
Classic moment.

Back in the early 90's, when they actually had muic on the network, the music was worthy of my time and they had some pretty interesting shows on...and of course Bevis and Butthead (my personal fav.)

Nowadays the best thing about MTV is my mute button. I mean the girls are all really hot (Brittney, Willa etc.) but the dribble coming out of their mouths is just annoying

Yo MTV Rap

All the cartoons

How the hell could I have forgotten The State? That show was so fucking funny, I'm pissed they don't show it on reruns. "When your kids say they're going out to play--they might be sneaking Mexican immigrants into the country." And yes Liquid Television was a pretty cool, twisted show all around that also gave rise to B&B as well as AF.

Another little memory fro MTV- Dice gets banned

And Dent, didn't you have a Bush and Spears quuote under your sig picture before?

That's all I saw, didn't know it was a full fledged show. I saw a short where they went from one spy to the next and nobody talked. Those chicks were so hot, I love cartoon porn, its so perfect!

I could just go on and on about how much Mtv sucks right now. The only way that I get semi- decent music now is by watching M2. But back in the day, Mtv rocked. Remote Control, Aeon Flux, Idiot Savant, and Lip Service. Does anyone else remember that show? It used to be on in the early 90's and the whole premis was to lip sing and perform to your favorite songs. I had my eyes glued to the set everytime it was on.
