Well, the spin from Low (and from JD somewhat) are that Lyashenko is a key. They say he already has Selke-type defense and needs to work on his offensive game. A strong 3rd line type. Not a star (so I still wonder about the deal), but Rangers think he is what Malholtra SHOULD have been. He did play a decent game, throwing his body around and forechecking.

Once again Rangers fell behind early, but I can't tell if it was Fata screwing up defensively, or Bruins playing well that lead to the Zamuner open shot. Dafoe made some pretty good saves as well.

Dvorak loss hurts tremendously.

Well, another gut check game today for BlueShirts. Win over Devils could mean a lot given their current state - a loss could have them spiral out of playoffs.

Seems Sather is trying to decide if he is Buyer or Seller. Larry Brooks (always wrong) swears that Bure was going to be in a Ranger sweater before Dvorak went down. I think he'd play well, but I hate giving up York & Novak. Of course if Panthers take Ulanov that would be amazing to me.

The guy I'd like to deal is Berard. With Novak, Mottau, Patrick Aufiero, Fedor Tutin (second round 2001) and Marek Zidlicky (sixth round 2001)as well as Smrek, they have plenty of young defensemen in the organization.

What a pathtic effort today. I'm so pissed off at so many players. Montreal won so were in 9th place. Not to mention Montreal 6 out of their last 14 vs the worst teams in the NHL. Could they put Ron Low out of his misery already the guy is worthless. We need offense, Get bure already. York is good but he is inconsistent, he hasnt done anything lately. I would send him for bure.

I would not send out York for Bure.

With a little over 10 games remaining, the addition of Bure isnt going to make that much of a difference. He will have no time to get a customed to all the changes. They still would be no guarantee to make the playoffs, and they still are nowhere near a Stanley Cup Contender even with him.

Keep York, and then in the offseason sign either Holik, Selanne, Guerin, or Amonte.

What did you expect as far as today's game was concerned. They never play good in New Jersey. What else is there to say.

By the way Detroit has back to back games this weekend too, and guess which game Dominik Hasek sits out? thats right he sat out today against Boston so he can be fresh and ready to take on the Rangers tomorrow? Was there ever any doubt? I guarantee if the Redwings were headed to the Coliseum on Sunday, Hasek would have played on Saturday against the Bruins.

I better see Mike Richter in goal tomorrow, Blackburn will have no chance against these guys. I know its back to back but its gutcheck time. Let Richter play today, and then have Blackburn play Tuesday against the Canucks, and then Friday against the Thrashers, with Richter playing Thursday against the Senators.

The only way the Rangers can beat Detroit is if Richter steals one for them.

Just a fuckin tease again.
They play well 1st period, seriously outshot 2nd
Are still in the game in 3rd when go ahead goal isn't called (and no replay either). With 5 minutes to go it is looking like OT and at least one point when SMACK - McCarty knocks in the rebound.

Now down 1 pt to Montreal, but Habs have 2 in hand. Looking awfully tough.

Stiffy, why dont you go worry about your own team choking away the top spot in the East. And they better beat Tampa Bay tonight by at least 2 goals because Im betting on them.

Besides the two big deals, Rangers had two other transactions:

Traded Peter Smrek (23)to Nashville for Richard Lintner (24). Lintner, a slovak, was playing for Modo of the Swedish elite league. Lintner has appeared in 83 career NHL matches with Nashville, registering four goals and 10 assists for 14 points, along with 44 penalty minutes. In 2000-01, the 6-2, 212-pounder appeared in 50 games with Nashville, registering three goals and five assists for eight points and 22 penalty minutes.

Rangers also signed center Bobby Andrews of the Alaska-Fairbanks Nanooks of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA).

rangers do it again, they got me all excited about getting bure then they go off and give him Adam Graves number. The whole night JD is telling us that its ok bec they called graves before the game to ask him. Well what the hell is Graves gonna say , no you cant have my number bec I was so great that you should retire it and no one else should wear it. you know Graves isnt gonna say no bec hes to nice. ranger management has to dictate to bure that 9 is off limits. Nedved is a walking stiff, he should be returning checks to cablevision. Maybe its that im so agitated watching the rangers for the last 5 years but JD and Sam are really getting annoying. They never criticize Low when the fans chant Low must go they dont even acknowledge it. do the rangers ever practice the power play, its pathetic they bring the puck up ice, get it to the blue line then lose it then have to go back and bring it up again. HORRID

Sam did acknowledge the Low Must go Chants during the Ranger-Calgary game. He said the fans are now voicing their displeasures towards Ron Low.

I am not too happy about seeing Bure wear #9. Wear any other number. #9 is sacred to me, and it doesnt look right seeing somebody else wear it. I want #9 in the rafters some day next to #1,#2,#7,#11, and #35. Wear #96, or any other number. Why couldnt he wear #12? Or why couldnt McCarthy just give him the number. If York can give up #18 for Zdeno Ciger, then McCarthy can give up #10 for Pavel Bure.

Anyway, this team really sickens me. Look at their roster and then look at Montreal's and you tell me why we are 2 points behind them with them having 2 games in hand.

It doesnt look good now as far as making the playoffs. Unless Montreal, Buffalo, and Washington ALL crumble down the stretch. The Rangers are going to have to go about 8-2-1 to get in the playoffs. And with 2 games left with the Flyers and Leafs. A game at Boston, a game at Ottawa, and a game at the Islanders. I cant see that happening.

Its too bad theres only 11 games left because I would love to see more of Bure. This is more of an example of how the NHL Trading Deadline is WAY!! Too late in the season.

Maybe its just being older, but 9 doesn't bother me so much - after all Vic Hatfield had his 50 goal season in it before. Just think of it like Yankees #8 - Bill Dickey & Yogi Berra, both HOF'ers, both wore it. They should retire it, but that is not my concern.

There is no excuse for their special team play, no

Well, back to business tonight.

Good strong win on the road in Ottawa.
got 1st goal, came back twice after Ottawa tied game, and outscored opponent 2-0 in third.

Poti goal and an assist (he doubled his year's goal scoring in his first game.)
Bure - another goal (2 in 2 games) and an assist.

It'll still be tough to get in, but games like this help.

FWIW, Darren Pang was asked today (before tonight's game) which team he thinks will take the 8th spot, and he answered Rangers.....

From what I saw tonight, in between the Duke game solid win. Any win is solid of course but we needed this one.

Someone told me once that there's a right and wrong, and that punishment would come to those who dare to cross the line.
But it must not be true for jerk-offs like you.

Poti looks like he can play, he moves the puck up ice very well. He clears the zone well, he will be good for us for a while. The Lindros line will be unstoppable, Bure knows where to be at the right time. I'm really excited about these trades maybe it wont make a huge diffrence this year but its building blocks.

He equaled. He had 1 goal, and he scored 1 goal tonight.

They looked really good last night, If they would have given that effort for just 70% of the games this year, they wouldnt be in the situation they are now.

But would it shock anybody for them to go home tonight and now lose to Atlanta after a solid win in Ottawa. God help them if they do.

I heard JD at the beginning of the game say Richter may go again against the Thrashers. Why? He cant play every game down the stretch, if hes going to sit, this is the game. I can play goal tonight and they should beat Atlanta.

Atlanta is arguably the worst team in the league, witout their best player Kovalchuck, and they just traded a couple of guys away including Ray Ferraro.

Let Richter rest so he can be ready for the Islanders on Monday and the Flyers on Wednesday.
