Just go to the nearest hospital and say you wanna give. 1-800 HELP NOW is the number for the american red cross if you want to donate or volunter or get info on where to give blood. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Something caught my attention today. I recalled Guilani saying there is a shortage of Type O- blood. It caught my ear because that is my blood type. Basically, O-people can only take O- blood I beleive. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure thats what I heard, so if you have that blood type PLEASE PLEASE go and give some, I urge you!

| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 01 | I went to winthrop university hospital today to give blood but i didn't..... ... Because the place was on fire!! Although i dont think that's related to the situation in manhatten, the sub basement of the hospital lit up somehow. My friend was with me and his fire pager went off 2 minutes before we got there and 20 seconds later 3 fire engines roared past towards the place. | ||||

Give the center personnel a break, their not setup to take this load of donors. Their working as hard as they can. | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 01 | For anyone from New Jersey in the Bergen County there is a division of the American Red Cross located in Rutherford on 176 Park Avenue. I plan on going there today myself to donate some blood. This whole thing is just unreal. I am still in a state of shock and disbelief. Even when I was looking at that big hole in the New York skyline where the towers used to be, I still couldn't believe it. This is nothing but human nature at it's absolute worst. These thousands of innocent people, who did nothing wrong other then show up for work, are now dead because some madman felt like he had to prove a point. I know a few people who worked in the World Trade Center and thankfully they are all accounted for. To anyone on this board who has any family or friends who are still unaccounted for...my thoughts and prayers will be with you. | ||||

Tomorrow (Thursday, Sept 13.) in the Rutherford campus of Felician College they will be having a blood drive from noon till 8 pm. I urge everyone in the area to go. There's lots of people out there not doing so well that really need our help guys. | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | TOP Fellow Californians and west-coasters-- Please wait another day or so to doante blood. The blood centers in CA have been reminding people that blood will be needed for burn victims in the next few days/weeks. They will not turn you away, but prefer that you wait for this weekend and next Monday & Tuesday. Also, wherever you are, your local hospital will usually, in a crisis, take blood and get it to the red cross, etc., or stock it there. If you can't find a good place to go, call the hospital and they'll help. For those of you who can't give blood for whatever reason, donate a few dollars to the red cross or the united blood servies. A special thanks to all my fellow needle-phobics who are going with me this weekend!
