| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | OK.. it's about that time again.. I've had a lot of cause for introspection over the past week.. and one of the things I've been thinking about is "What is it about this place that makes me keep coming back?" I'm sure plenty of you have seen me rant about this subject before.. about how it's not "Just a message board" to everyone.. and I think it's fairly clear the respect I hold for forums such as this.. and a few other people have posted their take on what it is about this place that's so, for lack of a better word, attractive.. But my opinion isn't the only one.. and this time, I'ld like to see what reasons some of you others have for constantly spending your days chatting with other folks around here.. in other words.. we all know that it's usually O&A that draws us here initially.. but what is it about this place that holds your interest, or that makes you truly respect the forum? I know I'm probably not going to get too many responses to this one.. as a true response would probably involve a bit of typing (and god knows we all hate that lol) but if you can take the time to type out your thoughts I'ld appreciate it.. as I'm sure other members would too. Finally, this is an attempt at a topic to provoke serious thought about something we all have in common, though not necessarrily for the same reasons.. so do NOT defile this thread please... thank you. | Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | What's a nubian? What it was… When I joined OA.com, this place was a hotbed of activity. You couldn’t leave the board for 15 minutes without missing pages and pages of posts. The people were cool as hell, and it was really a fun place to kill some time. What it is… Lately the board seems a bit dry. There’s not much in the way of activity anymore. Most will say, “it’s summerâ€, and that’s fine. But, I wonder what the fall will bring. These days way more people know each other than they did back in the day. This, to me, has changed the board in a bad way. Too many people feel a kinship with the other board members, and I think that detracts from the lackadaisical attitude that once permeated this place. Why do I still come here? I still enjoy the board most of the time. I like to goof on people, and discuss off the wall topics. Most of the people here are still cool, and it’s still a decent way to pass the time.

| O&A Board Regular Registered: May. 00 | I keep on coming back for the people most definately. Yes we all love this show, but we also have lives too. This board fully showcases that. If you been to past board outings (I went to the last two bar9 gigs) there is a great camradarie in the air. It's like High School almost again to me. (I've only been a full year removed from it) Except there is no school and few supericial people (at times). I only look foward to what this board will be when syndication is increased. | Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | I was a member from the beginning when it was still The Hellhole. Since then, the growth of the board has mirrored the growth of the show while continuing to act as a good barometer for the show's success. With so many loyal members, the board has almost become a living breathing entity in and of itself. But alas, I don't know anyone here. So I can only come back for the interesting topics, and to try and add a little bit to the place that doesn't seem to need it anymore. "You've had your whole fucking life to think things over. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | I came here originally after the first WWF incident, and lurked for a while, and then got a new name and started posting. To me, this board isnt really about O&A anymore, but it is a community where I can have fun and be myself, and say what I wish. I have become friends with a few people here, and love going to board functions and hanging out with people. And I am still owed a few beers by some people :). | O&A Board Regular Registered: Mar. 01 | i came here because i was depressed with no friends and pretty much locked myself in my house. i hated outside, and this was a way to talk with people and not have to see the painfull outside world....but the longer i've been on here, the more help the members have given me, and i have now gone outside and met people, and i must say, most everyone on this board, i would love to call a friend. All my life i've begged my family, to talk, to listen, to help me, and in the 6 months i've been here, you guys have helpes me more than my family has in 20 years. i know, a lil bit too sappy, and stupid, well, tool on me later, but for now, thanks. and kid, maybe the original purpous of this message board was to just bullshit about O&A, but it has evolved into a community. now i knowthat thatjust burns your undies, cause you hate seeing people socialize and make friends, but too bad. I like to see what's going to happen next. And I think that's what keeps most people coming back. What will happen next. Now I have a complaint. This is not only directed at k1d, but he was the one that posted these feelings in here, but there are more of you out there. You can't change the board back. It will never be the old board again. Evolution has taken place here and it will continue to evolve as time goes on. New personalities bring new life and continue the evolution. Wouldn't this place get boring if it was the same 20 people in here all the time. Doing the same things day in and day out. So for those of you that don't like the evolution of the board, leave. No one is holding you here.  | ||||

I just wrote this whole fucking sappy, tear jerking post about why I love this place, my history here and everything, but something got fucked up and it is all gone. THATS WHY I LOVE THIS FUCKING PLACE! Shit goes wrong here. We're all here to kick you when you're down, then pick you up and dust you off. That is the family that is OA.com. Mr. huntington, I must disagree with you. That is what bonds us together. The brother/sister relationships that we develop here. Sure, we get kinda close to eachother, but I don't think that it takes away from the lackadasical (i can't spell that fucking word, so fuck you) attitude; I think that it adds to it. I am allowed to fuck with my brothers/sisters, but GOD HELP the outsider motherfuckers that fuck with us, `cause it'll be ON! In conclusion, I would like to say, FUCK YOU CUNTS!  | ||||

It never will but if I can somehow squeeze in the type of discourse that I wish to have here its worth it. I agree with Kid, but I don't think its too late, as the board as evolved, it will continue to evolve. Maybe it will someday evolve into the type of board we can all be happy with. I disagree, and that brings up another point that peeves me about this place lately. If you don't like something, or you disagree with the masses, you are told to leave. I don't dislike the board, I dislike some shit that goes on here. But, there is so much more that I like than there is that I dislike, that I choose to stay here. I know that I am free to leave at anytime, but I'll stick around just to piss a few more people off. :)

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Why do I love this place, let me count the ways. This is the place I come to to escape from what others consider the real world. I don't get along with many people in my everyday life due to whatever reasons, but here I don't get beat on. Sure, thats because most people don't read what I write but thats ok because people here never make you feel like a schmuck...sure we all get tooled on from time to time, but it is all in fun, and we are all just here having a good time, which is the main reason we are all here. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jun. 01 | Hmm... I come to this board to share my opinions on numerous topics and join the OA.com family. Most of the people who use this board share the love of O n A that I share and it's really cool to see our sick, twisted, brand of humor in a forum we can all equally contribute to. So, it's not 'just a message board'. It's true that it is something more. Whatever that 'something' is, whether it be comraderie, brotherhood and all that jazz, I don't really know. To contribute to these forums and get feedback is something that also fullfilling in some sick way. In a world where people just usually yes you to death, and nod their head in a droning fashion... it's good to hear an answer. People here tell you what they think in a sometimes non-hostile way which is a good thing... other times people bring down the fire of the heavens with calls of "TOOL". But, to summon it up... 1. I like to share my gaming knowledge 2. I like to share to thoughts and opinions of Greg "Opie" Huges (Fox 5 spelling) and Anthony Cumia. And... 3. I like to share. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | I like to joke around (big friggin surprise) and this is an easy place to do that. I don't feel like I have to try to impress anyone or be something I'm not. It's a nice escape from a job where I have to be dressed nice and act like an adult to come to a place where you can shoot the perverbial shit about anything. I also like to people-watch. Many times I'll just sit back and watch the way people interact, I find the way people act around others facinating, and this is a prime place to do that. That's a solid rationalization for spending so much time here, right?  I can levitate birds. No one cares. | ||||

That's all I am saying. The reason that people get told to leave if they don't like it is that as much as we all like to have heated discussions around here, no one wants people telling us that it's bad without any positive suggestions.
