O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | The 50s had Elvis and Beatles, the 60s had Hendrix, Doors, Dylan, etc., 70s had Zeppelin, 80s had AC/DC. Who do you think will be considered "the" bands/artists of the 90s? What will be the last decade's "classic rock?" The narrator in Fight Club is the man we will be, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho is the man we want to be Eliza Dushku- Hotter Than Britney

I still say ofcourse GNR and Mainly U2 killed the hair band era, but nirvana nailed the coffin shut. Bands of the 90's GNR, U2, Nirvana, STP, Chili Peppers You analyze me, tend to despise me You laugh when I stumble and fall There may come a say when I'll dance on your grave I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe But at least I'm enjoying the ride. Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | quote:Even though GNR's Use Your Illusion albums, and U2's Achtung Baby came out in the early nineties, they're still thought of as being eighties bands. It probably has to do with what year bands have their breakthrough, or most popular album(s), ie: Appetite for Destruction - 1987 The Joshua Tree and/or Rattle and Hum - 1987, 1988 Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor) Nirvana (Kurt Cobain) Pearl Jam Soundgarden (Chris Cornell) ( ) denotes the brain behind the group than necessarily the group itself "How 'bout a little less asking questions, and a little more shut the hell up?" Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | I think Rage Against the Machine should be up there too. There was so much anticipation every time they were about to release a new album, and once it did it come out it was always a top seller. They also were one of the first bands to incorporate rap and metal together, and now we see almost every band with some form of rap in their sound. More feeds are more gooder! Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | You really need to look at who's music will stand the test of time, not who we like to listen to. Nirvana will do that, Cobain's death sealed that. U2 did a lot for getting bands back to music again. NIN, Pearl Jam, STP, won't be around. As much as I like them, they just won't be there. I think that Metallica has a chance. DMB may surprise you, they have built a cult following and in 15 years we may be talking about how they have been touring non-stop, similar to the Dead. That will engrain them in peoples' memories. Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | RATM wasnt the first band to incorporate true hip/hop elements (not that Aerosmith/Run-DMC shit)into their heavy sound. they were the first ones to break through i guess, but Biohazard was around before them and i think are better because they dont have retarded radical political beliefs which overshadow their talent.....

Faith No More - a great band that has been emulated many times over the years Ministry - Al Jorgensen was making "industrial" music before they had a name for it Alice in Chains - but it's a shame Layne can't keep clean Primus - Les Claypool ...'nuf said... Korn: They pretty much stopped grunge and turned hard rock in anew direction. BoxOfWine will be attending the Mr. Brownstone Academy of Dance until 7/20, one more opening available.

Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | i really have to disagree with Korn, i think if anything they ruined 90s music. theyre terrible musicians and theyre songwriting ability is mediocre. yea the first 2 cds are cool to spin once in awhile but they deserve no great merit at all. 80s hair metal bands may have been gay but at least they could play their instruments and didnt spawn a whole slew of untalented hacks like LB, Spineshank, Papa Roach, P.O.D., etc. i hope a new metal wave will hit the mainstream soon and wipe away these fags. as far as Korn goes, theyre an alrite band but no pioneers by any stretch of the imagination....

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | In the early 1990's Janes addiction put out their 3rd album and it influenced so many bands after wards. They formed the biggest concert event of the decaded, lollapaloza and their member have gone off to become famous in their own light. They weren't as big as the other bands mentioned in this thread, but they formed the foundation of nineties rock. You Give Me Head, It Makes it Worse.
