They lifted they're entire format and persona from Howard Stern, but they can't recapture any of his wit and candor. They're obnoxious and annoying and they just suck. They deserve no credit. I hope they get cancelled and are out of jobs, which I guarantee won't be long. | ||||

They went on and on bragging about all the ways they used to smoke in high school and had callers bragging about that they were stoned while Opie and Anthony were hooting and hollering, trying to sound edgy. As a high school senior who smokes weed with his friends, I can't tell you how lame it was. The second time, they had some woman get naked and did an imitation of when Howard and his crew evaluate women. They went on and on with these stupid metaphors to describe how bad she looked. I don't want to "aquire a taste" for two hacks ripping off a true talent in Howard Stern. The best they could hope to be is Howard on a bad day. If they want to be successful, they should be themselves and come up with some original ideas that aren't dumb radio gags like Whip 'em out Wednesdays. That's about as funny as Hawaiian shirt friday. | ||||

Like Howard needs an excuse for his ratings- who the hell ever heard of Opie and Anthony? I heard these two clowns on the air when I was trying to listen to some music on WYSP. Howard's been the king of morning drive radio for years. They're just garden-variety Howard imitators, soon to be canceled. Let them face Howard in the morning on an opposite station in any market in the world. Then we'll see who's washed up and who needs excuses. | ||||

And Howard is putting on a show for the same time slot. I hope it's great, because the CBS show was outstanding. Opie and Anthony are attempting to do the same old thing Howard's done- BUT THEY SUCK AT IT. | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | is it bvetter to hsave a shitty show that shows no creativity/originality or to =not have a show at all. and i said in another thread they've given to props on HOward on NUUMerous occasions. Also your 'cancelled and otu of jobs' you realize they have been iemployed for 3 years and just signed a contract. Also Kane will only be good if after the wife comes back in the first like 10 minutes the rest of the hour is him staring out a window going 'honey' or 'Alyson' for 49 minutes and the final minute is the kid saying to him 'daddy stop staring out the window, mommy isn't coming back' and he turns around and the scene ends of a close up of the road he beleived his wife came back on. I haven't listened for years and the show's still probably the same. here him discuss cottage cheese and omlets and baked potatoes then which Hollywood party he went to which celebrities talked to him, who didn't, who wanted to talk to him but asked him to go over where they were which is an insult to the honor of Don Sternleone. Voice his opinion on a show or movie, get upset when someone tries to discuss it with him. Talks about being tired, how he wants to get out of the radio business, how he gets hunderds of scripts a day and doesn't like any of them and talks about his wife (oh right ooops). It will take months and months of articles, soundbytes, original thinking, and reading posts comparing the facts to convince him. I know this guy, I used to BE him. The deprogramming of someone who has been fiercely loyal to Howard is no easy task. Jeisen, think about all the times that you've heard Howard say something that didn't sound quite right to you, and trusted him. Took his word for it. Seek the answers to those questions and it will help you a great deal. I didn't want to believe it either. I hated these motherfuckers when they first came on to my scene. I bought into ALL of Howard's ideology. He has a good ideology for the most part, but the self serving, muscle flexing, greedy hollywood executive often tries to smother it. These two, while acknowledging Howard as one of the pioneers of the evolution of radio, have captured the essence of what his show used to be. Not copying mind you, but following a format that has evolved over the years, influenced by a number of broadcasters, and improving on it with original comedy, point of view, and technology. Plus, they're fuckin' funny as hell! Anyone who says Ant's impressions aren't bullseyes are nuts. Opie is one of the most downt to Earth guys, if not THE most down to Earth guy I've heard on the radio. At least until he starts nightly treks to Nobu. Listen man, I love Howard as much as anyone. Hell, I won a contest in January '96 and got to go on the show, and to Scores with him for Christ sake! I know it hurts and doesn't seem like it could be true, but it is. You know what I'm talking about my friend. This guy isn't a bad guy. He's just terribly heartbroken, uninformed and lost in the woods. He'll be alright if he chooses free thought. He has every reason to want them not to mention him or get any credit off his name- cuz they deserve none. How would you feel if you created an original show, chalenged the censors and critics, and now a bunch of assholes steal your style and ruin your jokes and attiutde through their stupidity? They have a show on in the middle of the afternoon, where there's no competition, and they still have shitty ratings and no one's heard of them. And you obviously know nothing of what your fag hero has done to PREVENT competition. -O&A were banned from saying Howard's name cause they were starting shit with him. Howard knows this situation well. He started shit with a major radio personality years ago. He attacked this guy, and it made people listen to Stern to see what the hell he'd say next. More and more people listened, and soon he overtook the guy he was fighting. That guy's name: Don Imus. Howard's not stupid, I'll give him that. He remembers his history. And he knows that if O&A are able to start shit with him, people will flock to their station to see what THEY will say next. -Another Howard tactic: O&A are not allowed to "take him on in the morning" as you suggested. No one is. Why? Stern has a no-competition clause written into his shiny new contract. That means no shows that get any ratings, or are in the "shock-jock" genre, can be put in a morning slot at an Infinity station. Howard's not a hero. He's a whiny fucking baby. He's on his way out, and he knows it. He's just trying to prolong the inevitable. By the way, dickbag... if you recall, Howard's first show was on E!... and I wouldn't consider E! to be a major network by any means. Perfect example of a Stern zombie.... ignoring the truth and the reality of the situation, and reducing yourself to senseless bashing. Go find a Mancow board to release your aggression on.
