| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | What sports announcers do you despise so much that you have turn the sound down on TV or just not listen to if its on the radio. I personally HATE John Sterling the radio guy for the Yankees. Feel free to add sportcenter or fox sports news anchors that you can't stand as well. Because Bob Murphy may be well past his prime now, but hes still a legend in his field, and Gary Cohen is one of the best Baseball Announcers in the game. The Announcer that I dispise the most is Gary Thorne. Especially in Hockey. I cant stand when the Rangers play on ESPN and he does the game. This guy is supposed to be ESPN's #1 Hockey Announcer yet he still knows absolutely nothing about whats going on. He constantly calls the wrong players. For Instance a few weeks back the Rangers are playing the Penguins. And Alexei Gusarov who at the time was on the Rangers and wore #25, comes in on a breakaway. Thorne makes the call that Kevin Stevens is on a breakaway. Kevin Stevens is on Pittsburgh and wears #25. ANd he didnt correct himself. He keeps saying how Stevens was robbed. The guy is clueless. And he cant pronounce anybody's name right even the guys names who arent hard in hockey to pronounce. He pronounces Malhotra, Malhorrtra. Klou-check. as Kloosek. And others that cant be described in typing. He also pretty much sucks doing Met games and I cringe when the Mets on Channel 11, because Tom Seaver pretty much sucks too.  | ||||

I don't know how cannot like Mike Emrick, the guy is simply the best in the business, and a long with JD make the best duo in hockey. And Mike Miller on the radio who now is recovering from cancer, is a great announcer. I think he is better than Kenny Albert of the RAnger.s | ||||

He thinks that everyone who watches TBS is a motherfucking Braves fan stupid fuck. I personally like Gary Thorne. I don't watch much hockey but he does good work with the Mets. I think Gary Cohen is amazing and probably the best baseball announcer out there. I'm not bias at all cause i'm a Yankee fan and hate Sterling. His calls just get nauseating after a while. I could deal with Kay though. Joe Morgan is a tool too, I'll agree with you guys there. | ||||

Tim McCarver and CLYDE,for different reasons,annoy tje shit out of me. Both of them are VERY SMART in terms of knowing their respective sports but C`mon,why do they need to show everyone how SMART they are?? They both,McCarver more than CLYDE insist on using multi syllabic words ...much like DENNIS MILLER,but not quite. Clyde does it, I think,to get away from the DUMB BLACK JOCK stereotype,which I can`t really blame him for but he goes a little too far,but it makes him a bit funny when he misuses a word or phrase. I don`t know what planet McCarver is from but he makes watching baseball seem longer than the 5 hour games actually are. PICKING OFF ASS F`s 1 BY 1!!! | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: May. 00 | Bill Walton has to be the WORST annoucer. He will usually point out things that are fucking obivous to even the causal sports fan. Even though I'm a Ranger fan, Mike Emirck is the best fucking announcer in ANY sport. He is simply unbiased when it comes to announcing. -I'm really Broadbandnigga!- | ||||

Best Mike Emerick is my favorite TV Announcer between the energy and the knowledge that he has, and I should just note that he was NEVER a NHL player, is absolutely amazing. He even makes Barry Melrose look good on ABC. JD is the best color commentator in the business. No doubt in my mind. He knows the game back and front just needs a better partner than Sam Rosen. Mike Miller is one of the best radio commentators around the league and I can't even listen to Devils Radio right now because the guy that is there really sucks. Worst I don't even know his name, I just call him the boring Pittsburgh announcer. I'm sorry but he has no energy and I don't even know how he got a job in the most exciting sport in the world. He belong in golf and tennis NOT hockey. Matt Loughlin is the worst guy to do games. He replaced Emerick on Saturday night for that thrilling Devs/Sharks game and I'm sorry he is more stupider than Chico Resuch. | Psychopath Registered: Dec. 00 | I have to diagree as well about Gary Thorne. He brings so much energy to whatever game he is announcing, whether it is baseball or hockey. I can't stand Bob Costas especially when he does basketball. He loves to tell his little stories and basketball is too fast of a sport for the play by play guy to tell anecdotes. When him and Joe Morgan do baseball games together I want to shoot my f'ing television. Tim McCarver is by far the most overrated announcer in any sport. Why do people have such a hard on for him? He sucks. As far as football goes, IMHO Madden and Summeral are way past their prime. "Who is your daddy and what does he do?" | ||||
