Alkey 5 Need Input!

so far i'm having a good time here. reminds me of the old board. i like the feel of it all.

i agree on the lack of quality topics, and i'll try my best to add if i can. i'm sure i can top my bowling shoes topic. but lots of boards/sites start slow and then build, it seems to me to be building. so just give it time.

as for the layout and things like that, overall i like it. i do get a little confused by some of the incoherent topic titles. but i manage. i don't know how the others fare with that. i guess the only thing that can be confusing at times is a lot of the inside stuff. but it's not big deal for me.

Oh, almost forgot to respond to the people who don't like the colors (which match the colors of the old OA.com).... there are 4 other skins. Find one you like.

I'm open to a color scheme suggestion as long as it doesn't look like shit.

Also.....

-Regarding policies.... I'll say again, we aren't against bullshit threads, we can't just put a policy in place that says "ALL THREADS MUST HAVE SUBSTANCE AND YOU MUST STICK TO THE TOPIC." - that's not what we're going for. I think most of us are pretty reasonable posters. There is a big difference between a crap thread here and there, and completely fucking abusing the New Topic button, which was what caused trouble.

The problem isn't the threads themselves, it's destroying the board with LOTS of them. Any decision of abuse is a subjective one. When we feel things are being abused, measures must be taken. So, the policy, as with everything, stands simply as, we reserve the right to determine whether action must be taken, and what that action is.

Kinda like a cop probably won't pull you over for 5 mph over the speed limit, but if you're doing 80 in a 25, you're fucked.

-Sig guidelines fall into that category as well. We reserve the right to determine whether a sig is too big. We felt that specific sig guidelines are too restrictive, so we didn't do that.

-G-spot, being the geek hangout, was meant for tech support. I have edited the forum description to reflect this.

-I really don't know why the site goes down so much, I'll try to look into it.

That offer to help out with a new server still stands. Wink

Oddly enough, after looking at the color schemes available, I went back to stock issue.
