About the Yankees winning the division, Wang being dominant or Matsui being the Yankees MVP this year?
Until Derek Jeter retires, no one else will be MVP of the team. Jeter just gained the distinction of being the first MLB player since the 1800's to hit safely in 92 of his last 100 games.
they've proven many people wrong before, and its only may but i think the yankees are toast this year. the smartest thing they could do is to allow cashman to really rebuild this team with great young talent like hughes and wang and start from the ground up, but the culture of the yankees over the past several years is in direct opposition of that.
actually, cashman has been stockpiling the minor leagues with talent. their farm system is top rated by baseball american and espn.
Yeah, to be honest, I can't say anything good about the Yanks right now, except when it come to Posada and Jeter. Jeter has been swinging the bat the same exact way for like over two years now.
He's also been swinging his glove like a bat, so that's nice.

17th by baseball america, which is right around the middle, nowhere near the top.

i wasn't aware espn ranked minor league systems.
Hey, you're talking about the man who not only defys the odds with his bat, but also in Gold Golve selections.
hughes is a very nice pitcher, its a shame what happened to him.
I blame Galt and Ken Singleton for it.
broadcasters that feel the need to jinx no hitters annoy the fuck out of me
Bobby Murcer's first came back, and he joined in the chorus. I won't forgive them.

ESPN works with Scouts, Inc.

Where did you see the Yankees ranked 17th? I believe they are ranked in the top 10. John Sickels also put them in the top 10. Not only do they have Hughes, but Jose Tabata is suppsedly really good, and he's only 18. It's mostly pitchers that they have aside from Tabata.

*edit*
shocking, I'm right. What a surprise.

BA had the Yankees system ranked 7th (Boston 9th, Mets 13th)

Baseball Prospectus had the Yankees system ranked 4th (Mets 8th, Red Sox 11th)

Hardball Times has the Yankees ranked 11th (Mets 8th, Red Sox 13th)

John Sickels has the Yankees ranked 6th (Red Sox 9th, Mets 17th)
they were ranked 17th in last year's ranks

i don't think you can get the 2007 ranks without subscribing to BA

anyhow, they're ranked *near* the top by most of the minor league 'experts', lets see if they actually hold onto them and let them develop. the 'win now' mentality in the bronx has prevented that for some time now.
this is such an awesome year.

Another broken bone. Another broken bone. Now comes Clippard.
the yankee starting pitcher any given night has to feel like the drummer from spinal tap.
If the Red Sox go .500 for the rest of the year, the Yankees have to go 72-49 to win the division, which is a 110 win pace over a full season.

Seriously, the season is already over. The Red Sox have won the division already.
why must you tempt fate?
