Spit... that sounds like a rocking album... I can't wait to hear Alabama Thunderpussy doing "Hymn 43" (quite possibly the ONLY good Jethro Tull song, as far as I'm concerned), but I think someone needs to check out who they are crediting for this:
Quote:Gideon Smith & The Dixie Damned "The Pusher" (Steppenwolf)
"The Pusher", albiet a great song, was not written by Steppenwolf, but instead written by Hoyt Axton (check it out if you don't believe me) ...but speaking of "The Pusher", I highly reccomend the Blind Melon version that appears on the record entitled "NICO" that was released shortly after Shannon Hoon died...

As far as good/bad covers... there are way too many of both, although I tend to agree with VG & Maynard... I'll listen to it just to see how it sounds... when I think of a few, I'll list them.
Quote:Hoyt Axton
He also wrote the theme to Mitchell, the classic Joe Don Baker vehicle -- ok, that's one of the few things I can contribute. I stink.

As for bad covers what about those Divas whores doing "Shook it All night long?"

Two other good one's that I'm not sure were listed:

Nirvana cover of Bowie's "the man who sold the world"
GnR "Knockin on Heavens Door"
Cold - Space Oddity :thumbs-up:
Dope - you spin me round :thumbs-up:
i like marilyn mansons covers too. he has a few :thumbs-up:

I thought Nirvana's covers of the Meat Puppets were better than the Meat Puppets original versions. At least better than the versions I found on Napster.
I thought the Pusher was by Steppenwolf, that's who the credit goes to on Nico (and allmusic.com - I just checked)...and yeah, that's one of my favorite covers too...Nico is such a wonderful album

Goddamn- goddamn, goddamn goddamn, goddamn!!!!!!!

And if you want to hear a great cover....try doenloading Halfway to Gone's cover of the Marshall Tucker Band's "Can't You See"...it's gonna be on the album, but it was also a hidden track on their new album "Second Season" These guys are from Long Branch, but rock harder than just about everything out there right now...lots of whisky blues rock!

Is that the "...tied to the whipping post......" Song? I'm at a loss for it's title.
The title of the whipping post is "Whipping Post" but that's by the Allman Bros.

this is Marshall Tucker Band - Can't You See

I'm gonna take a freight train, down at the station
I don't care where it goes
Gonna climb me a mountain, the highest mountain, Lord,
Gonna jump off, nobody gonna know

Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman been doin' to me

I'm gonna find me a hole in the wall, gona crawl inside and die
That lady, mean ol' woman Lord, done told me goodbye

Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman been doin' to me

Gonna buy me a ticket now, as far as I can, ain't never comin' back
Take me Southbound, all the way to Georgia now, till the train run out of track

Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman been doin' to me

pretty song :-)

some other good covers:
Kyuss - Into the Void
Tool - Demon Cleaner
Zakk Wylde - Going to California
Ben Harper - The drugs don't work
Train - Ramble On
Cactus - Parchment Farm
Raging Slab - Earchache My Eye (Up in Smoke song)

Another really good cover: Heart doing Led Zeppelin's "Rock & Roll".
The Melvins have some kick ass covers.
Youth OF America - The Wipers
The Ballad Of Dwight Fry - Alice Cooper (Melvins do it better)
Interstellar Overdrive - Pink Floyd

Shit, they have too many to list. They put out an entire album of covers "The Crybaby" which just ROCKS!

I like the Melvins....I haven't heard much of thier stuff, but, I actually like what I have heard. :bouncer:
Stuff by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is always pretty good. They do a great cover of "I Think I Love You".
Quote:Cunt-Twat, how am I gay if I had to work an O-Town concert? I wasn't there by choice
my apologies, but you should have said that!
I'm not sure which was worse... having to deal with tables asking for extra Jack Daniels sauce at Fridays or going to the O-Town show. Smile
Dylan doing Dean Martin's "Return to Me"....soooooooo nice!

This version was used on one of the Soprano's episodes.
Life of agony did a decent cover of "Dont you forget about me" by, shit, I dont remember. Some stupid 80's group.
Quote:Some stupid 80's group.
Simple Minds.
I just heard a cover of Pour Some Sugar on Me that was simply horrible. It was some girl singing it all slow and emotional-like.
Quote:Simple Minds
Thank ya, Ma'am.
I was just in my car and I heard the coolest cover ever-Some ska/punk band doing "Baby got back". Of course the dumbfuck DJ didnt say who It was by, but I'm someone here knows.

The Grand Skeem does the Baby Got Back cover. They opened at the O-Town concert, incidentally. IT ALL TIES TOGETHER.
