Last week I obviously bought the new Alanis, and I just ordered a bunch of older CDs that I had on tape that I wanted to get on CD from BMG for like a penny each....

I got:

Live: Mental Jewlery, Secret Sahmadi (sp?)
STP: Core
NIN: The Downward Spiral (because my last copy is behind my dresser which is too heavy to move)
Quote:Live: Mental Jewlery,

That's one that I have yet to get 'Pain lie by the riverside' is a cool tune. Also something about Tyranny.
Sevendust: Animosity

Nonpoint

I've been trying to replace my tape for a while now, but everytime I actually find the CD, it's usually about $20 or so.

I could burn you a copy and give it to you at the next Bar 9

Give it to Sleeper. I won't be able to make the next bar 9, but we have plans to go out for some beeers later that week. Thanks.

Sorry, I'd rather not be seen with that CD in my possession.

I am giving everyone a fair warning: Keep the fuck away from the Resident Evil Soundtrack! It is a fuckin rip off, damn it. It seem the people at Road Runner Records consider removing all the naughty words from songs to be re-mixes. Uggggghhh, what a fuckin waste.
I picked up the Fantomas-Melvins Big Band - Millenium Monsterworks album Tuesday.

It's a live album with tracks by both bands. If you're not a fan of Fantomas, or some of the weird stuff that the Melvins do, then you will probably hate this record. Mike Patton does some amazing shit with his voice on here. Less singing, and more of using his voice as an actual instrument.

Operation Spirit (The Tyranny Of Tradition)

Did you give it up?

Clutch is amazing.
Chocolate and Cheese is IMHO one of the best albums of the 90's. Top 10 for sure.
Gotta love Monster Magnet. They fucking rock.

I almost forgot. The other day I bought Ani Difranco - Out of Range. Her lyrics are amazing enough, then add her songwriting and singing abilites on top of it, and you have a GREAT artist. This is one of my favorite albums of hers. The lyrics on this album are simply mindbending and totally captivating.
HA! you people are funny. You actually pay for music? That's like paying for air.
Kid, I hope you're kidding with that statement.
Why? I haven't bought a CD since '97. Well, other than blanks that is.

Recording companies make too much money off of cds, I'm not bank-rolling them. If I truly liked an artist, and considered myself a fan, I would buy a ticket to a concert to show my support.
This is an argument I'm not getting into with you or anyone else. I could speak till I'm blue in the face, but you will NEVER realize someone elses point of view on any topic.

Yeah, I've downloaded music. Tons. But, I've also spent THOUSANDS on buying music, and going to concerts, on videos, you name it. In fact, if I lost all of my possessions one day, the only thing I'd really mis was my music collection.

Yes, most record companies rake the fans over the coals when it comes to buying music, but, I personally don't mind spending $15 for the MANY MANY years of enjoyment I get out of each CD.
but don't you realize that the artist, on average, receives about $1 per CD? Of course, the money is in the publishing, but how many artists have publishing rights?

Sorry man, we'll just have to disagree on this one. I feel that there are too many companies in this world that screw millions of people everyday. If the Internet is my chance to screw them... I'm doing it.

And to answer your charge that by downloading it, I support a criminal enterprise... GO FUCK YOURSELF!!! The government you pay your taxes to is the biggest fucking criminal enterprise going, next to religion, that is.
I dig the album art. Sometimes I just like have a legal copy, call my a kooky bastard.
