Quote:anyone else think lewis was in the back watching blackpoitation films while he was "psyching" klitsko out?

I wonder if Klitschko was told to do it for the white man
Klitchsko was in the back saying "But i'm not irish".
Quote:It was a defining match during a time he was decimating fighter after fighter. Bonecrusher hurt him in that fight.
i dont think you ever saw this fight. he never hurt tyson. he held him for the entire fight. it was not a defining moment at all. i succinctly remember smith being derided during the fight by the announcers and after the fight by the press as having been cowardly and dull. this match was seen as another example of tysons dominance because smith's fight plan was to not get hurt by putting himself in a position not to hit or get hit.

Quote:you have a nasty habit of dismissing point and arguing, as of late, without taking or perhaps even processing what's being said.
i am not arguing for its own sake. i just know that you are incredibly wrong in this instance. i have fully "processed" what you are saying and it is wrong. Smith and the fight was seen as a joke after the way he clutched the entire time. i remember the press callling him "bonehugger" afterwards. he faded into obscurity after this fight. if it was such a defining moment why was a rematch never called for? because it was a boring ,no contest fight because smith was to cowardly to mix it up.
Quote:i have fully "processed" what you are saying and it is wrong.

Wrong is calling someones opinion wrong because it does not agree with yours.
its not just my opinion. it was the opinion of every sportswriter and broadcaster who saw this fight.
gooch made an emphatic statement, i am refuting it. understand the dynamic before commenting.
I think you and I saw different fights. Tyson got criticized in the press after that fight...besides by Larry Merchant (which prob doesn't count)...b/c he finally looked human. And Bonecrusher, in lieu of that fight, got a few more b/c of his showing.
{quote]its not just my opinion. it was the opinion of every sportswriter and broadcaster who saw this fight. [/quote]

Did you personally speak to every sports writer? Some called it a good fight cause it proved that Tyson had weaknesses, was it competitive? Not really but Smith did hurt tyson in the early rounds and had him wobbled enough for Tyson to not fight out of the clinches. Smith just didn't have the granite chin that Holyfield had so he wasn't able to take the chance of catching a shot while throwing repeated combo's. Smith set the blueprint on how to beat tyson, rocked tyson early on and was competitive enough to last 12 rounds with the 1 round KO machine. Neither was overly dominant. It wasn't a classic but a defining fight for the future cause it showed many of Tysons flaws that would be used by Douglas and Holy later on.
review of fight
just one opinion among many that saw the fight the way i did

you did not just use this line against me! i am serious about that nap gonz. please.
That was just the saddest move I have ever seen pulled by anyone to prove a point.

You linked a geocities site, thats a pro tyson site, done by who? A sportswriter? where's his/her name? Oh done by who the fuck knows. Thats trully sad... a fuckin geocities site.
:21:

It was a boring fight, though. But at the time, I had expected Tyson to destroy him, and watched Bonecrusher frustrate him the entire match. And, Bonecrusher also caught him with a great shot in the 12th. I had a respect for Bonecrusher after the match, b/c he didn't walk into him like a lamb waiting for the slaughter (Spinks). Bonecrusher then got shot at Witherspoon and won. Lost to Tubbs, soon after, though.

You spoke for "every sportswriter who saw the fight". You ridicule Gooch for an opinion and call his opinion wrong, maybe you need the nap, pappy.

and you call me bitter? if you notice in my same post i say " just one opinion". thats all it is, someones opinion. i dont claim it to be anything more. relax. i think you have been reading my posts wit a cynical and bitter eye. take it easy big fella and it will all be ok.
Quote:call his opinion wrong
he didnt state it as opinion. he stated it as fact. i am refuting that fact. you jumped in just for the sake of getting into an argument.
those were two seperate posts and two seperate points which you combined in a wrong interpretation.
no, i stated what i thought the fight was to me. Thus: Opinion Maybe you should borrow Sleepers schoolbooks. :39:

Quote:i like Bonecrusher Smith, actually. He gave Iron Mike the fight of his early career.

Quote:he held him the entire fight and barely threw a punch. this fight was a joke. you must be delusional.

He said HE liked Smith, making it an opinion, while you went right ahead and said the fight was a joke
gooch said he liked smith and then said " He gave Iron Mike the fight of his early career."
this statement is what i am refuting.
It was clear that it was his opinion though, you can never again make fun of Sleeper's illiteracy
