Belive me if the north comes across the DMZ with an army of over 1 million troops while we are attacking iraq, don't doubt for a minute that there won't be a draft. What the fuck do you think selective service is for?

What good would a draft be if all it would do is put people unable to handle going to war in charge of fighting it?

Well, it worked in WWI and II and we would have won the korean war if trueman wasen't such a pussy and let MacAuthur finish the job.

If this country goes to war, there are plenty of people who will volunteer to go off and fight,

It won't be enough and as the wars would go on what about the casualties that will happen? We will need people to replace those who are killed, POW's, MIA's, deserters, etc.

there is no reason to pick people out of their homes who are not mentally or physically able to handle the brutalities of war, because that will not help us win it.

That's what the draft board was for. To weed out those people. Basic training took care of the rest.
