I do that for systems - stuff that you rely on people.
I have no problems buying boxed stuff (HD, etc.) if the price is cheap enough.

It isn't, however, a good business plan to have your employers work with equipment that is worth $50, when you have access to much better equipment for good pricing.
how can you tell everyone else they need the latest 2.5ghz pent 4 if your employees are using pent 1?

My point exactly. But yet they continue to let us use these ancient dinosaurs. They keep rolling out new software and new ways of doing things but don't give us the hardware to support it. I hate my job.
