There's too much monetary pressure to build to allow sentimentality to delay this for too long. All the concepts so far have preserved the footprints of the towers as park/memorial space and that's great. But the rest will get developed again.

NYC depends too heavily on that district for it's economy. Silverman's lawyers will be able to apply too much pressure under the lease agreement. Not to mention that the construction industry has been slow to dead since 9/11 and this construction project would have them all rolling in work for years. So, you'll have every trade union in the city pushing for it. And all the downtown businesses that have been suffering.

They are going to build the biggest, most efficient use of space, most profitable building that they can get a permit for. The only thing holding them back might be the fear that people probably have about working in that location. But let's be honest, people are going to rent out the offices in that location. I just hate the fucking fantasy, that's all. It reminds me of the people in my office a few months ago. Everyone had to chip in to buy a shitload of lottery tickets for the big game. The next day, I was the only who still had his $5, while they had their shattered dreams and were $5 in the hole.

Remember them by making sure their deaths were not in vein(or is it vain? that one always messes me up), not by writing their names on the wall.
