How sad - are kids that stupid now?

I heard on the radio today that NJ is considering doing away with phys ed classes in school and having the kids take an additional academic class instead. So now, instead of just having stupid kids, we'll have fat, lazy, stupid kids. What a system.

i think stupidity is worse than obesity. too many dumb kids are around, as evidenced by this article. plus, without gym, kids wont always get fat, but its ovbious that they're not learning enough without the extra class

i don't see having one extra academic class instead of pe doing any good. if they can't teach kids anything in 5 or 6 hours, how is one extra hour gonna make a difference. the quality of the education isn't get any better just by making it last longer.

Maybe if they'd shown a map of Vice City, and asked the kids to identify Little Haiti and Ocean Beach, the scores would've been higher.

You should take the sample quiz they have linked in the article - it's really disturbing just how easy the questions are. But over 80% of Americans knew that the Middle East was the world's largest oil exporter. Did they only survey gas station attendants?

i just took the survey...so simple, yet so many idiots the only question i got wrong was the first one...population is hard

yeah, i got all but the first one. on the country questions the other choices aren't even close to the right one, so even if you only know the general area you could get it right. i can't believe some people must've picked australia for switzerland or south africa for afghanistan

I don't know about the #'s in NY and NJ...but Louisiana is 49th in the country for education. I see examples of it every day out on the roads too...

The state motto for this place should be "Louisiana:We're ign'ant, but we have New Orleans...so come to Mardi Gras y'all!"

It's no wonder most military people either homeschool their kids or pay more to send them to private schools...

I took the test, I got the population one wrong and also the western most city one wrong because I didn't notice one of the choices on the map.
