I was excited to hear that there is definitely video of this. He was there to film something a little more hardcore, but the plans fell through so he was using the time to film a kids' documentary.
I always wondered if shows like this or Survivorman on Discovery Channel would show the death of their hosts. On Survivorman, the guy is basically dropped in the middle of a hostile environment with a bunch of cameras which he has to use to film himself surviving for 7 days. What would happen if he injured himself so badly that he had no choice but just to tape himself slowly starving to death, would they broadcast it?

Les Stroud rules and you know it. He will never get hurt ever for any reason. Cameras or no cameras, he's immune to death and/or injury.

I love that show. I just saw the one where he's dropped above the arctic circle. He had a bunch of polar bears roam past him one night while he was hoarding a bunch of raw seal meat in his stuff.
He's destined for slaughter sooner or later.

This whole thing reminds me of Grizzly Man. Anyone ever see that documentary?
It's about this crazy guy who goes to live with bears because he feels they are his "friends," until his friends got hungry and decided to eat him on camera. But that guy deserved it waaay more than Irwin. I mean Irwin was annoying as hell but he seemed like a decent guy, such a stupid way for him to die.
