actually that hyundai has been my commuter car for some time now, i put 120 miles a day on it and it doesnt even flinch. 116,000 miles and running.

Parallel parking is such a bullshit test. In fact, they should take that off of the test and make you navigate midtown traffic in a stick shift. Now THAT's a test of will and driving prowess.

Seriously though, the amount of people that suck at driving but can parallel park is astounding. Real-world driving should be a larger factor in the test. I know when I took my test (1989), they took me on abandoned side streets to test my driving ability.

I just love watching people back up on the highway when they miss their exit, or stopping on an on-ramp getting on the freeway. Some things about driving are fundamental. Parallel parking is not one of them. Handling a vehical at sub-1 MPH proves fuck all as far as whether or not you should be behind the wheel.

The day after I got my license (93 or 94), Philly had the worst ice storm since the dinosaur age. I hit a parked car driving home drunk at like 3 in the morning when the storm just started.The next day my car was literally encased in ice.
