I doubt anybody will be talking about that hack if a speech in the future. Here's an idea I've been pondering. Four plain clothes security personnel. Two int he front, two in the back. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | it was VERY lacking...i was expecting much more, but, considering who the presidnet is, i guess it isnt that much of a suprise and the negotiator is a good idea, but not with weapons.it's far to easy to miss with a gun shot, and if you shot the wrong spot on a plane, the bullet goes out, and then you get massive decompression.but unarmed combat skills would work  i may be a little catholic boy, but i'm still HLJC 4 LIFE! | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Unfortunately, as good as the plan sounds Jeff, there were 40,000 flights cancelled today, that means we would need 160,000 trained personnel, to give you an idea how many that is, the U.S.M.C.'s charter does not allow them to go over 200,000 soldiers. One thing we may need to do is institute a more stringent search of travelers baggage, much like customs on international flights. Sure, we will all be cranky and delayed, but we might just avoid 20,000 deaths.  Currently newbieless...unbelieveable! | ||||

I am supposed to go to Florida in January and I would pay an additional $100 if it meant I would be safe....  why do I say I'm fine when it's obvious I'm not? why's it so hard to tell you what I want? why can't you just read my mind? | ||||

Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes or in their offices -- secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers. Moms and dads. Friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror. The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is strong. A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining. Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature, and we responded with the best of America, with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could. Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government's emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it's prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington, D.C., to help with local rescue efforts. Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks. The functions of our government continue without interruption. Federal agencies in Washington which had to be evacuated today are reopening for essential personnel tonight and will be open for business tomorrow. Our financial institutions remain strong, and the American economy will be open for business as well. The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I've directed the full resources for our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them. I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance. America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world and we stand together to win the war against terrorism. Tonight I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me." This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. However, when in comes to the recent events of horror, I believe that Bush Jr will lead this nation to justice. In times like this, we absolutly want a dumb redneck in office. Why? Because theres nothing he loves more than taking people's lives and flexing his muscles. I'm not asking anyone to change their political view and values. But I believe that we should have a little faith in our Commander in Chief. I really believe he will take the right path with this one. After all, he's always talking with his daddy. As for the security of the flights I would suggest training & arming the pilots and making the cockpits sealed somehow.  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | i didn't vote for either bush or gore last nov, but i don't think that clinton would do anything more then bush is doing now, hell he loved "partying" with the arabs. for whatever it's worth, they should have hit afganastan(sp) last night, and wait till the morning to tell everyone what they were doing. who cares what anybody else thinks, they weren't hit with acts of terror. as for the security at the airports, i think that all they need to do is more x-ray machines, better ones, for both hand luggage and suitcases. i'm willing to bet money that there were bombs under the planes, and no one knew about it, much like no one knew that there was a hijacking until it was too late.
