Mind you, I'm not one of those Don & Mike jackasses. I follow this show only.

As a fan, I can say that this is really awful, even if it goes with the O&A territory of freewheeling.

If you disagree, then you should really think about it.

Norton's self-hatred, and the car-chase were fine (they're unpredictable), but after looking forward to Norton's old tape and J-Lo, and Chelsea talk, I felt like over two hours of my life had been wasted by Lady DI and more lame WOW contest boasting. (the contest is not lame, just the boasting "We're better than Columbus, etc.")

Now, hold off the flames, because I'm really only pissed about O&A allowing Di to take up that much time. We already know she's mental, unattractive and we could have guessed stupid.

I guess I really wish that O&A get some kind of internal timer when they beat something lame to death. Beating something good to death is excusable, but this.

I guess the fact that the online voting is a landslide against her means people agree with me.

I guess this is what Sniffen was referring to when he said syndication would ruin the show, but I'd love for them to prove him wrong.

Dude, I agree with you. I kind of liked today's show though. The last 4 shows have frankly blew. I don't feel like hearing the faggot Tippy Tom. Tracy Morgan was not funny on the show. People hate the wow contest because they have contest for like 5-6 weeks every other month.

They have been really doing nothing funny lately. They had a huge bit handed to them with the Olsen's 16th birthday and they gave it like a 2 minute mention. Why because they had a piece of shit homeless faggot on. We make fun of Vos, but the last few times he has been on I have been laughing hysterically.

Today was better than the last week though.

At least when Norton is on, there's something
funny going on. I have to agree, though, that the
last week has been weak - ever since the broo-haha
around Stalker Patty (I think) took them by
surprise.

But come on - another contest? Tracy Morgan? Lady
Di? All crap! The best thing for awhile was them
jumping on Norton for his love of Ozzy; that was
great fucking radio. Hystercial.

And why does Anthony have to go to Ron and Fez to
be funny????

For further proof, you don't have to look any
further than this bored board - there's been so
little activity, and you really know it's bad when
the Mods keep trying to keep the "Vs. D&M" thread
alive.

There's always tomorrow, though.

Think of a few things..... first, no one performs at 100 percent all the time. Even Ted Williams hitting streak had to end. Second, they have to try to entertain all sorts of people, some folks will find things funnier than others, can't please all the people all the time.

As for the Olsen twins, I honestly believe that since Howard started on the Olsen twins bandwagon all the sudden, the boys have decided to lay off it.... they go out of their way to be different than other shows. Sure, O&A were on the boat first, but when others jump on, they don't have as much fun with it, it becomes TOG, so they move on and try to find something new.

SHIT, sometimes you appear to have shit for brains. We're keeping that thread alive? Nigga please!

If you can't read sarcasm, then the sarcasm pass I gave you was very much undeserved.

When everyone begs for something (please let this thread die!!!) and we goof on it, it does not mean we are trying to do C.P.R. on a dead thread.

I wish the thing would die, but fucknuts like yourself keep responding with inane drivel.

Listen, go beat another dead horse, like Don and Mike for example, ok?

Hey, I kinda liked Tracy Morgan. He was no Breuer, but not too bad.

It's been said before, but it's hard to be "on" for 20 hrs a week. Even at Howard's best he wasn't at his best all of the time, and he has that 6am-7am hr which is kinda dead.

There have been days with no show prep that turned into radio gold. sometimes you get lucky.

I can't help but agree with the idea that the show has been lacking. Don't get me wrong, I am a big O&A fan like the most of the people on this board but the fact is they are spending way too much time with these freaks and not on news stories that could be turned into hilarious bits.

The part that hooked me about the Opie and Anthony show in the first place was the hilarious bits like the "Celine Dion Pregnant" bit and the "Louie Anderson Soliciting Sex" bit to name a couple. They were great bits that had people laughing and most importantly they were topical and were something anyone could tune in and enjoy, not just the hardcore listener who has to know every inside joke to get it. It would be great to hear the boys focus on the show more and come in with a better idea of what they are going to do.

As it stands now the O&A show has become a painfully slow race to fill the 4 hours up with nothing more than uninteresting topics and painfully long banters about topics that are either stale or topical only to the members of the show itself. Is Stalker Patty or Lady Di really that annoying? Well if they are then just cut your losses and stop talking about these hanger-ons and get to what made you funny in the first place.

Special thanks to Austin for the Kick Ass Sig Pic!

It almost seems they're getting lazy. . .but I liked the past two weeks a LOT - between the staple gun nonsense, the mistresses, the drildo, Dr. Dirty, Iron Shiek, Voz's old tape, it was enjoyable. But I do hate Lady Di. I hate her oh so very, very much.

Personally, I loved Tracy Morgan. I thought he was hilarious. Next time will be even better when he gets used to the FCC rules. (I know he does the live show, but there is a difference at 4 in the afternoon). The WOW contest has had very little time given to it and it is a good way to get people involved. Don't get me wrong, the Naughty Nightie contest got out of hand, but they seem to be giving this one a better approach. I just think that the show goes on hot and cold streaks. Give it a rest. If they don't try new things, the show will get old really fast.

“The window burns to light the way back home. A light that warms no matter where they've gone. They're off to find the hero of the day. But what if they should fall by someone's wicked way. Still the window burns. Time so slowly turns. And someone there is sighing. Keepers of the flames. Do ya feel your name? Can't you hear your babies crying? Mama they try and break me. Still they try and break me. 'Scuze me while I tend to how I feel. These things return to me that still seem real. Now deservingly this easy chair. But the rocking stopped by wheels of despair. Don't want your aid. But the first I've make. For years can't hold or feel. No, I'm not all me. So please excuse me. While I tend to how I feel. But now the dreams and waking screams. That ever last the night. So build the wall, behind the crawl. And hide until it's light. So can you hear your babies cryin' now? Still the window burns. Time so slowly turns. And someone there is sighing. Keepers of the flames. Do ya feel your name? Can't you hear your babies crying?” - Metallica

I liked Tracy Morgan alot too.
But I thought one of the better things they've done lately was the "early days of the internet" discussion the other day about aol and chats.

They were doing fine, but they moved on too quickly.

Hot and cold streaks, I guess I am one of those people who holds them to a higher standard, because it is them and only them who control the show.

Whether or not you like Jim Rome, it's cool that he demands you keep the intensity of the show with your call or he hangs up and doesn't acknoledge you exist.

I personally happen to like when O & A just riff and go off on tangents. When they talk about the news and other shit happening anywhere, to me is enjoyable radio. Too much prep for bits, guests, contests, etc. can be a bad thing.

I disagree completely. The show is on five days a week, I don't need them to be formatted. Whatever they didn't touch on today, they will get to tomorrow or the next day. The fact that they go off on tangents is what is so original about the show. I hate that every other show takes a special time-out to do the news, who cares?

It's been like this from the beginning. It's four hours of O & A hanging out with their listeners. It's the most interactive show on the radio hands down. They do have their busy days, when a bunch of guests are scheduled for one show, yet they still just make it a "shooting the shit" type format. If you want to call it a format?

I can understand your gripe from another perspective, like if you listen to Stern and Don & Mike and everything is planned out ahead of time. If that's what you like, then more power to you. But, the fact is O & A have been this way for a long time, and I don't see them changing, nor would I like to see them change. It wasn't syndication that brought this on either, that is stupid talk. Also, if you feel like listening to the show is wasting your life, then go out and build a pyramid. I hate that excuse, we listen because we have nothing better to do at the time.

I respect and understand your opinions, but I just don't feel the same way.

I like teh show!

I get that the show's always been this way, as of "hanging out" angle.

But in terms of the rejects simply having too much time spent on them, I don't think I'm being unreasonable here.

I've also made a post in the past about the whole talking about other shows:
(edited for brevity)

"What bugs me most about O and A, is when they stoop to the level of talking about the differences between their show and Howard's (or whoever else's). When someone else rips them off, or accuses them of doing the ripping, much show time is wasted on it.
Whether you can chalk this up to their real feelings needing to come out or just nothing else being planned for the show, I don't know. But the listeners deserve better than self-serving radio.

Listening to Stern argue with his crew for an hour about how John Stamos and the gang dissed stuttering john at Nobu is horrible. the number of listeners that have ever been there, ot could afford it, is pretty small.
(Except for a few times, O&A seem to stay away from that kind of crap).

The only other thing I don't like is the inside jokes that only they (and a couple of radio people) would get.
Who outside of Boston should ever know who Bruce Mittman is? reminds me of Imus always busting on Joel Hollander as if any listener should know or care who that guy is.
The moral of my post is this: Don't waste time talking about your show, do your show. "

I'm not looking for an itinerary of any sort for this show, but when you mention Norton's old tape and build it up only to waste that time away, you're really letting down a lot of people (I know most everyone was looking forward to that).

I knew they'd shoot the shit for a while, but I really thought that at 5:17 or so, it would be a "clear away the table" time. Ok, how about 5:45? 6:05?

I just think they're capable of some amazing radio, and these points could only help them towards putting out a better product. If you heard the end of the show, you know they know it too.

I promise that I won't gloat or be smug when the show starts getting better.

I think O and A's biggest problem this week, albeit it is only Monday, is that they relied to heavily on Tracy Morgan...Although I was pissing myself when Norton made Scooby-Doo comment about old lady eating dog food...fucking classic Norton

No need to worry about flaming, Jersey. You presented your views in an intelligent manner. I think the flaming usually starts when someone comes on the board and posts something like "YOU GUYS ARE STUPID!"

Personally, I enjoyed most of the show. I liked the banter with the Dallas station. But I agree that the Lady Di call got very old very fast. Hopefully, this will end once Lady Di gets voted off the show.

Still, I find even when O and A are having an off day, they're still more entertaining than anyone else currently on the radio.

They rely on audience participation. If the show sucks it's because you people aren't holding up YOUR end of the deal. Call in with better material. The comedy potential of the US Open was infinite, but your calls sucked and the topic died. Here's the equation: BAD SHOW=YOUR FAULT

Christ, Butt-Munch, I know that thread was
sarcastically brought to the top because people
(like myself) had asked for it to be locked.

No SHIT! (since everyone thinks it cool to use my
initials).

For the record...I thought it was funny as shit -
Flock of Moosen cracks me up.

That said, I don't see where my opinion (an
opinion, ass hole), though, of it being brought to
the top had something to do with the fact that
there was nothing else going on the board deserved
your fucking bullshit.

You holding a grudge or something??? Was jumping
on something banal that I wrote last night, and
getting your panties twisted, and attacking me
(again) your way to provoke me so that you have
another excuse to ban me?????

Or am I giving you too much credit?????

Please go back and look at how many days past
between the last time I posted on there and when
Moosen brought it to the top, and see if I've
posted since - and while you are it, please find
for me where I said O&A suck and D&M rule - and
stop your fucking lies about me.

I've said it before, dickless, and I'll say it
again...

I love when listeners think they know what's best for a show, or how to program it, hilarious. Trust them that much, do ya? I haven't heard such fan dissention and disapproval since a certain "personality's" divorce in October of '99. They sure got to this point fast with some of you, huh? The bigger you get, the harder it is to keep it fresh, pure and pleasing to everyone. Things change.

And maybe the "spirit" of the old board has been smothered by the dictator type "orders" that EVERYONE seems to dish out around here. Ban happy mods, soap opera type drama, and the fact that anyone new who comes here, gets ripped on so bad, they don't take the time to post again. Especially if they commit the cardinal sin of discussing something that might have already been discussed two years ago.

I think the show is fine. Try not listening for all four hours, every day, like a mental patient. It's called "afternoon DRIVE", not "This is Your Life."
