I am simply trying to point out the ridiculous and repetitive "boy that cried wolf" mentality that some posts have here. You want to complain that those douchebags in Detroit stole WOW? They did, and I'm with you. You want to complain that Rocko stole the F-U Line? He did, and I'm with you. You want to complain about Stern trying to take credit for that broad WOWing on the Today show? He did, and I'm with you. Especially considering that today is the tenth anniversary of his death, that he was a major contributor to Howard's show for years and that the "Sounds of Kinison" song was requested by a caller. | Hanger-On Registered: Apr. 02 | Here is a question for all you O&A fans: Friday's show started with the playing of the "Insect Song". When Opie came on the air he explained that O&A have been "playing that song for years" . Any real O&A fan knows that is a lie, and that O&A only found out about the song less than a year ago. However, Howard played the song at least 20 times. Over three years ago! He hadn't played it in a long time, but he did that Friday morning. Now here is my question O&A lovers, when Opie came on and said "who steals from whom" (meaning Howard stole the idea of playing that song), what do you think is the answer in this case? And isn't it funny that Opie has to lie about how long they have been playing the song? In conclusion, Opie and Anthony do something on their show three years after Howard Stern, and then say he's ripping them off. Brilliant!! | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | The biggest difference is that O&A don't claim to have invented anything except WOW. Before Stern there was Greaseman, Imus, Jay Thomas, Rick Dees, etc. Teenweek, You forgot, Stern taught the "Forward Pass" to Knute Rockne :) The question is who is funny, not who is the "inventor". Stern - was funny. Now he spends most of his show talking about himself. Once and a while he is still humerous, but no where near what he once was. O&A - IMO, much more often funny. Not always, but then again, no one is. Unlike Stern, they don't take themselves so serious, and therefore don't deserve the flames that Stern sets himself up for. By the way, Otto & George on HS today, and it was a cringefest. Stern set himself up like the Emperor with thumbs up or thumbs down; on O&A Otto & George just do their thing, and it is usually radio gold.  | ||||

His fans are just loyal for whatever reason and that is the only reason they still listen. Also, what else is there to listen to on the morning drive? Music? Even I would rather listen to Howard than music on my way to work. Now as for Opie and Anthony, they are still funny and they do come up with there own shit. If once in a while they do something similar to a howard bit then rest assure that it was an accident because the last thing they want to be is Howard Rip-offs. Howard did not invent everything, he came up with a few ideas and stole the rest. Opie and Anthony are ORIGINAL, but don't expect them to be claiming to be the owners of such words as tool and dick, because that is what happens to words, they become popular. Remember when Rad was a great word? Let it go. How long do Opie and Anthony have to be around before they get some respect from the Howard fans out there? Howard is the past and Opie & Anthony are the future so deal with it because eventually you will come around. We will win in the end. | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Jun. 01 | I'm from Chicago, and Steve Dahl wasn't the originator of anything. He used to talk about Howard and how he was doing some "pretty interesting things" as far back as 1978. They worked at the same station in Detroit in early '78, Dahl went to Chicago and Howard went to Washington. Im sure they had influence on each other. I've heard O&A's rap on Dahl being the first broadcaster to have a lesbian on the air, that may be true, but Dahl was in a bigger market, and didn't know where to go with it. Besides, before Detroit, Dahl wasn't all that outrageous. He never used to call his family on the air or fight management so publicly until AFTER he worked in Detroit. As far as instant feedback goes, yea maybe on a computer, but Howard's listeners used send him faxes on whatever he was talking about during the show. Jokes, questions, comments, etc. It was as instant as you could get in the early 90's. Even so, O&A's fan interaction is still much better. Whatever | ||||
