Ok, you all know how much this has been weighing upon my mind, so just bear with me...

I am torn between my loyalties, that has been established.

We will never be plugged on the show again, our links will be removed, if they haven't been already. This is not personal, this is just how things have to be. Anthony does not even want this site to exist.

What has been burdening my mind so heavily is that I've been faced with the fact that no matter what I chose, the site would die. I could either close the site in one form or another, or watch it die a slow death. No matter what I chose, people would be angry, frustrated, and not understand what was happening.

The only viable solution that I have is to close OpieAnthony.com as we know it. What I have come up with is to dump the Opie & Anthony guise completely. All the O & A boards will be erased, except the WOW & FU board. The South Park boards will also be erased.

The remaining Off Topic boards will remain, with the posts that exist, and will form the backbone of a new site. All members will be able to keep their accounts, we won't have to switch servers, but we will change the site name (I have both ohhellyeah.com & purelyinsane.com registered and not in use). I will take care of the opieanthony.com name myself.

What will grow of this will be a new site, new logo, colors, name, scheme, policies, etc. It is a chance to start fresh, and grow in new ways. Give all banned members a new chance, erase all statuses, enact new policies to run the site better, etc.

It will be a challenge and will not be easy for any of us. It will take time to re-develop and to grow, but it is the only way to salvage the site and all that has been built in the last two years.

Until an hour or two ago, I never expected to say it myself. This place is my life, more so than most of you realize. You can say what you will about how I run it, or what is in my head & in my heart when I make the decisions I do, but I love this site.

I hate to cut the cord with the show, but it isn't something I have much choice in. It is either re-develop the site, or close shop. That is what I have been thinking of for the past day, whether or not I could or should continue to let this message board exist in any form.

If anyone does not wish to take part, or feels that they do not have the time to deal with the headaches and growing pains of this rennovation, then please speak up. I would completely understand if you didn't feel like putting up with the hassle and frustration of starting over. It's a daunting task, believe me, I know from experience, and I know how bad the backlash could be.

OK. I am not going anywhere.

May I ask r question? If so, here they are...

Is it a legal issue to change the name, and remove the O&A forums, being that it IS Un-Official?

That's the part that I am not clear on.

Plus, IF the name change is a MUST, are they the only 2 choices that we will ever have or is it the names that you have secured and don't want to get another?

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

No, it's not a legal matter.

We have those two names: Ohhellyeah.com & Purelyinane.com

or we can use the old Thehellhole.com

But I don't want to hear the whole, we're ripping off CDIH shit.

Because we want a fresh start, and to cut our affiliation with the show. If we're dumping the guise, we dump the name. I don't want to mislead people. And so long as we have that name, we will be under pressure from the show.

OK, please, bear with me...

Why are we dumpiing the 'guise'?

Can't the board still be 'partially' about O&A, as it has been, for the people who still enjoy the show?

If the board IS un-official, what kind of pressure can the show put on the site?

This is the part that I am not getting. Call me dense, but I just don't get it.

I thought that we don't get show support, the links are taken down, we deAdmin both Ant and Roger and we make a go of it.

We WERE accidentally getting members fromthe opieANDanthony.com plugs anyway.

I am not trying to be difficult here, I am trying to understand this.

I know how much all of this bothers me, I can only imagine how it bothers you... as well as the rest of the gang here.

What we will probably do is add a Talk Radio board or something just so people can talk about whatever.

I think dumping the guise gives us the chance to start fresh, especially in perception.

And by dropping the name, it's the only way that I can at least not lose my relationships with Anthony, Roger, and the few other members of the OA microcosm that I am friends with.

Thank you for your honesty.

I just hope for your sake, and the boards, that that isn't a power play and those relationships don't splinter down the road anyway.

With that confusion out of the way, I kinda hope that some names can be thrown around before 1 is settled on.

That's all for now.
