The idea behind this thread was actually to prove that stereotypes are silly, yet they do apply on a larger scale. It's not as if we all have an overwhelming urge to live up to stereotypes, but some are such generalizations that because of our culture, they will ring true. There are certain things in life that are unavoidable, stereotyping is one of those things. While some would say that talking about them only perpetuates them, I say it shows how ridiculous they are. I mean c'mon, I can't dance, and I have a vertical leap of about 10". I don't speak in ebonics, and I can't run very fast (unless I'm being chased by the cops ;) ).

Stereotyping will always exist, because our society has been raised that way. Until the day comes where we as humans speak one language and live together in peace, you will always hear the darkie jokes, the kike jokes, and all the others. At least most people mean it in jest and are not serious about it. The ones that are, are the ones to stay away from. Making a joke about hating martians isnt all that funny, becuase if you hate blacks, you have problems that need help. At least thats my 2 cents. Back to ranting. | ||||
