Goldust ranked higher than RVD?? Even though I kind of don't like RVD, I still think Goldust shouldn't even be on the list...

Wrestling is fake.

KNOW YOUR DOPE FIEND. YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT! You will not be able to see his eyes because of Tea-Shades, but his knuckles will be white from inner tension and his pants will be crusted with semen from constantly jacking off when he can't find a rape victim. He will stagger and babble when questioned. He will not respect your badge. The Dope Fiend fears nothing. He will attack, for no reason, with every weapon at his command--including yours. BEWARE. Any officer apprehending a suspected marijuana addict should use all necessary force immediately. One stitch in time (on him) will usually save nine on you.

This list sucks big time. Stick with the PWI 500 for a better list.

The scary thing for me is that I actually personally know 7 guys on this list. I have some calls to make tomorrow to let them know about this.

The problem with any of these lists is that they are the opinions of one or a few people. It's alot like arguing which bands are the best. Some most will agree upon, still others are a matter of taste. For example we all think Lance Storm is a better wrestler technically than Tank Abbott was. I'm also sure that an Eddie Guerrero vs Storm discussion would be debated a little more.

It's all opinion.

It's also style.

Some cruiserwieghts do shit a guy like Angle or Rock does not have the flexability to do. That said, Lance Storm doesn't have the strength to pull off power moves like the Gorilla Press on a guy the size of the Rock, HHH ect... That doesn't mean bigger guys can't wrestle a good solid match and get thier opponents over on a nightly basis. It's all a trade-off. To compare workers of different sizes and styles is like apples and oranges.

Moosen, this quote has been sticking in my mind, for some odd reason. So why should I rely on a magazine, a magazine that relies on the number one and only federation in the US, to supply me with a worthwhile ranking of who really are the best professional wreslers, when I can look at a list provided by an indepedent ranking system provided by fans with no affiliation to the business, and only rank the wrestlers by how well they perform in the ring?

Logic obviously dictates that I'd listen to the fans, not the paid shills. Maybe you operate on a higher plane, where shills speak more truth than actual fans. I don't know, I probably would never buy into it, but I'll think about it...

199) Goldust

224) Barry Horowitz

267) X-Pac

413) Horace Hogan

416) Triple H

Come on. Give me a break. Horace Hogan probably the worst wrestler of alltime is ranked ahead of HHH. And do my eyes deceive me or is Rock not even on the list. I understand Hogan and Undertaker, but Rock is not that bad. And I guess they dont count people who are injured because I did not see Chris Benoit or Rhyno on the list.

I swear it was this big

This list must be a very late April Fools joke. First, the average wrestling fan (like myself) wouldn't know 4/5 of the people on this list. Second, what was this list based on. Top 500 as in what? Ability? Titles held? Popularity? This list is a complete joke.

Well some notables that did not make it whether they deserve it (just for what they have accomplished in this business, see Hogan and Undertaker) or not are still better than some of the American wrestlers I see on this list. Here are 10, right off the top of my head:

Rock
Chris Benoit
Scott Steiner
Hulk Hogan
Undertaker
Rhyno
Brock Lesnar
Booker T
Bradshaw
Big Show

Horace Hogan probably the worst wrestler of alltime is ranked ahead of HHH.
The list is based on work done during the past six months. If Horace Hogan has been putting on better matches than HHH during the last six months, why not rank him higher?
quote:

And do my eyes deceive me or is Rock not even on the list.
Rock is currently inactive, thus then, not on the list.
quote:

And I guess they dont count people who are injured because I did not see Chris Benoit or Rhyno on the list.
Indeed. Injured=inactive.
quote:

Well some notables that did not make it whether they deserve it (just for what they have accomplished in this business, see Hogan and Undertaker)
As per their criteria, the list is based on ring work only, and pays no attention to titles held, backstage influence, past accomplishments, popularity, and the like. Hence, no Hogan, no Undertaker, since they are god-awful wrestlers.
quote:

or not are still better than some of the American wrestlers I see on this list.
Can you say, with any evidence to back you up, that someone like Barry Horowitz has not been wrestling well in the past six months?
quote:

Here are 10, right off the top of my head:

Rock
Chris Benoit
Scott Steiner
Hulk Hogan
Undertaker
Rhyno
Brock Lesnar
Booker T
Bradshaw
Big Show
Inactive, injured, injured/awful, awful, awful, injured, not that good, #103, awful, awful.

i will agree with many points of the list(liger, american dragon in the top ten is fine by me), but there is no way in hell that steve austin takes lance storm on the list, uhh and excuse me did anyone notice fucking VADER is higher on the list than a lot of more desrving talents,VADER people,i dont care if he has improved his ability in the past years he is not worthy of a spot above the 100 level. and XPAC should not occupy a position higher than shark boy, shark boy is pretty damn good at times. btw did anyone see kintaro kanemura on the list? this list seems like it was made by random selection, not an actual ranking system

I'll agree that Storm is a bit low, but I think it was more a personal thing considering Storm's past wars with the guys who made the list.

Like who? Vader's not as good as he was in say the early to mid 90's, but I'd say he's still the best big man in the business.

I can assure you, that is not the case.

Why do you think Vader sucks Lake of Fire? He's 500 pounds and he can do a Moonsault. Most big guys wouldn't even try to do moves like that but Vader tries to improve himself, I enjoyed watching him wrestle. But then again I know nothing about wrestling...

i guess as superheavywieghts go vader is awesome, but putting him that high on a list of the greatest active wrestlers is a bit of a jump
for instance IMO i think the following should be higher than vader
van dam,sabu,super crazy, juventud guerrera,storm,
all put on way better matches technically than vader. granted vader is a huge guy and is very innovative but he's sluggish, and a lot of his recent matches in japan have been good but not spectacular

You just said it best when you said the #1 and only federation in the US. Why should I give a fuck about these Japanese, or Mexican, or Indy feds for that matter? I don't know these wrestlers and chances are I'll never see any of them ever wrestle.

This has nothing to do with listening to shills (as you put it) either. As a matter of fact, I think these people that write for wrestling mags are idiots and losers. They write about it as if it is real and they try to insult our intelligence. It's one thing to write for the federation because they are trying to put on a show, but to write about it in a mag and continue to keep up the image that the storylines are real is pathetic.

I'm not a work rate whore like a lot of other wrestling fans. I don't live to see a great wrestling match each and every time. I like the occasional "power" matchups between guys that look like they can kill each other.

If it was all about the "smaller" guys, how exciting would that be? Granted they are great wrestlers, but they can't speak or cut a promo to save their lives. Rob Van Dam, Matt & Jeff Hardy, X-Pac, Chris Benoit, Billy Kidman, Dean Malenko & Spike Dudley are just a few that are absolute bores on the mic. Triple H, Rock, Austin, Hogan, Kane & Mick Foley are not even in the league of the above mentioned wrestlers, but they get a crowd pumped more with a 5 minute promo than any "smaller" guy does in 20-30 minutes of wrestling.

Bottom line is this, it's called "Sports Entertainment" for a reason. It's not meant to be about work rate anymore. Like it or not wrestling is a soap opera now and it's the promos and storylines that have made the WWF as big as it is today.

Don't make me angry.
You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
