Thanks for the respect, cluster... :) I'm glad you have a thick skin like myself...

just some notes I'd thought you enjoy....

January 20, 2002

Since 1995, Jeffrey Lurie's first full year as owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, only four teams have played in the post-season more than the Eagles (four out of seven seasons) -- Miami (6), Green Bay (5), Minnesota (5), and San Francisco (5).

With a 4-3 record in the playoffs during that span, Lurie's Eagles have won more post-season games than at anytime under any ownership group - Bert Bell/Lud Wray (1933-41; 0-0); Alexis Thompson (1941-48; 2-1); James P. Clark (1949-62; 2-0); Jerry Wolman (1963-69; 0-0); Leonard Tose (1969-85; 3-4); and Norman Braman (1985-94; 1-4).

Here are some other news and notes:

With a 3-1 post-season record, Andy Reid has tied Greasy Neale and Dick Vermeil with the most playoff wins in club history.

The Eagles won a road playoff game for the first time since 1/3/93 (at New Orleans).

The Eagles won a divisional playoff game for the first time since 1/3/81 (vs. Minnesota).

The Eagles defense has now gone 34 straight games allowing 24-points-or-fewer. That is the longest streak since the Minnesota Vikings held their opponents under 24 points in 41 straight contests from 1968-71.

The Eagles now have played four playoff games in the last two seasons and the Eagles defense has surrendered just one touchdown (a 47-yard reverse by Bears' WR Ahmad Merritt).

After recording just 14 interceptions in the 16-game regular season, the Eagles defense has racked up seven in two post-season games. SS Damon Moore leads the troops with three and FS Brian Dawkins, CB Troy Vincent, S Rashard Cook and LB Carlos Emmons have one each.
The Eagles have been plus-3 in the takeaway/turnover department in both playoff games.

The Eagles have scored points in all eight quarters during this post-season.

The 33 points scored by the Eagles is the third highest post- season output in club history. The Eagles scored 58 points on 12/30/95 vs. Detroit, 36 on 1/3/93 at New Orleans, and 31 vs. innesota on 1/3/81.

Donovan McNabb now has a 3-1 record as a starter in the post-season, tying Ron Jaworski and Tommy Thompson for the most by an Eagles QB. With seven career post-season TD passes, McNabb now trails only Jaworski's nine in the Eagles record books.
The 25-year-old Chicago native capped the scoring with a 5-yard TD run, scoring the last TD at old Solider Field (the stadium will be torn down and rebuilt on the same grounds).

KR Brian Mitchell continues to move up on the NFL's all-time post-season list. On Saturday, Mitchell was 2-27 on punt returns and 4-84 on kickoff returns.
That puts Mitchell at 26 punt returns (2nd all-time) for 281 yards (2nd all-time) and 25 kickoff returns (tied for 3rd all-time) for 613 yards (3rd all-time).

He has become the Eagles all-time leading post-season kickoff returner and is among the leaders in punt returns.

Kicker David Akers was 4-4 on field goals and 3-3 on PATs yesterday. His 15 points were the second-best total of his career. His four field goals tied the Eagles' post-season record for a single game and his 46-yarder was the longest in Eagles post-season history.

The dependable Pro Bowl kicker is perfect during the post-season (5-5 on FGs and 7-7 on PATs).

DE Hugh Douglas shelved Bears' starting QB Jim Miller (injuring the QB's shoulder while blocking on a Damon Moore INT) and recorded a sack of Shane Matthews later in the game.
Over the past two seasons, Douglas has had a sack in three of four post-season games and the Eagles are 3-0 in those games.

The Eagles got production from a few unheralded players including: backup TE Jeff Thomason - 2-39 receiving, including a 30-yarder - the longest reception of his career. Backup safety Rashard Cook - notched one sack and one INT.
FB Cecil Martin - 3-18 receiving, including a 13-yard TD. Backup safety Tim Hauck - forced a fumble of Autry Denson on a 4th quarter kickoff return that the Eagles turned into a field goal.

The inside of the offensive line - LG John Welbourn, C Hank Fraley and RG Jermane Mayberry - held the Bears dynamic DT duo of Keith Traylor and Ted Washington to just four tackles while the Eagles unit rushed 27 times for 112 yards (a 4.1-yard average).
These numbers do not include the Eagles final time-killing drive of 4 plays for -25 yards.

For the first time in Philadelphia history, the Eagles will play a game on a date following "Wing Bowl." Celebrating its 10th year, Wing Bowl was the brainchild of WIP SportsRadio's morning show and has quickly become a Philadelphia institution.

was a good win from the eagles but...

quote:

Sep 9 ST. LOUIS Lost 17 - 20 (OT)
a very close game it was and the NFL analysts say that the eagles defensive backs bother the hell out of the St Louis passing attack,,, only problem is that other guy,, whats his name ,, oh yeah Faulk

WBK my friend, you failed to mention that that game was in Philly. the rams are gonna decimate the eagles at home on turf in the dome, it isn't going to even be close.

first all of you doubted the eagles against the giants
then all of you doubted them against the bucs
then all of you , except FB , doubted them against the Bears, saying they had no chance

once again, you are all saying they have no chance, please, by all means keep saying this all the way through the super bowl

Once again, I reiterate, the only good thing about Philly is the most underrated player in all of baseball, Bobby Abreu.

Everything else sucks ass, and sucks ass with conviction.

Please. I'm getting tired of your "philly sucks but I want to blow Bobby Abreu" attitude. Where ever your from (Boston?), stay there and shut your hole.

Anyway, the Rams-Pack game is all but over. Farve threw another of his patented inteceptions for a TD. The Rams will be a formidible challenge for the Birds to say the least. But I believe our defense can stop them or at least prevent a route. We'll win if not easily. (prediction: Akers last second field goal in the fourth. "IT'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD" -MR)

Eagles 31
Rams 28

Ok, they have NO CHANCE against the Rams...happy?? Their secondary better intercept 5 passes and force 3 fumbles from Faulk, or else they have no chance.

I didn't notice Super Bowl win in those stats and
notes, so that would mean all of your facts add up
to jack shit, voodoo.

Whackbag- didn't you post something about watching
the Creed concert on VH-1? 'nuff said

As much as I hate Warner, I hope he throws a bunch
of touchdowns next week, and also that Fox doesn't
show any shots of his horrible, dike-ass

The Rams are pussies for playing in a dome. They never really face any bad weather. That's why they are good.

I really think they try to run up the score....with their starters still in!!!

The eagles may be for real...then again maybe not.

Scrappleking: With a screename like that, one might think you'd be a philly supporter. Philly is the home of scrapple. But after reading your posts it's clear that you are another big mouth NY jackoff. You should change your name to smogking, rapeking, or hivking...you know...something more appropriate to your place of origin.

nj_voodoo: You'll have to edit your (very enjoyable I might add) stat list in a couple of weeks to include both this year's NFC Champions and Super Bowl Champs: the Philadelphia Eagles!

I am from Philly, dice. I just can't stand the Eagles or their fans. As much as I like the name "hivking", I'll keep the "scrapple" moniker. You need to have a nice bowl of soup and watch an episode of "7th Heaven", that show always shows me the way.

The only player I like on the Eagles is Mcnabb. He is awesome and fun to watch. That boy, was my MVP for my fantasy team in winning the O&A fantasy league championship. Other than that I hate Philly. I am sick of the Rams more so, Go Philly.

Also Let's go Steelers and kick the crap out of the town I hate the most and the team I hate the most, the patsies. BOSTON SUCKS!

at least it was close

the rams werent very impressive, and the loss of vincent did hurt the eagles

but overall the rams just had a better 2nd half, Eagles needed turnovers and they didnt get them

GO PATS

Listening to local sports radio... Eagle fans ripping the coach.

Heartbreaker, true But being an eagle fan I have to say I was proud to see them play the way they did. And Nasa how does it feel to see a coach that blew the JETS off go to the superbowl? DICK! I think the JETS thread ended a couple of weeks ago and looking at things won't be revived for a few more years

alrite i normally dont post here but being an avid Eagle fan (i hate all other Philly sports teams, im a NJ/NY sports fan besides football) i must voice my disappointment. true, they did give the rams a tough time, but theyre lackluster performance in the 3rd really cost. the problem is the inexperienced receivers: Mitchell's a rookie, Pinkston is too inconsistent, Brown usually just sucks (that drop on the 5 in the 1st quarter really cost them), and Thrash isnt worthy of the #1 spot. i think the answer is to try as hard as possible to get Chris Carter back for next season. all they really need is that one outstanding receiver for everything to gel, everything else seems to be in place (as long as they bring Trotter back)...

They don't plan on bringing Trotter back (too much money) I don't agree but his agent wants Erlacher type funds and Na Brown SUCKS Thrash has earned his money this year and I think Freddie Mitchell has a huge upside for a rookie. Chris Carter all he does is catch touchdowns.......... SWEET
