Personally i think it is more impressive that i got one of the teams' scores right and was only wrong by 1 TD with the other team, and i picked that team to win anyway. Also, i stated numerous times that Belichek was a defensive genius and that his defensive schemes fool pretty much everyone he plays. I dont know what else to say. OAAWITE, you make a good case in that you had it being a 4 point victory for the Pats. I just think that having predicted one of the 2 teams' final score right on the money is more impressive. And donny, how the hell did you know my team's name for fantasy basketball: Cluster's Last Stand? | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | goddamn it OAAWITE, had you read a sentence earlier in the same paragraph, the point is that its more impressive that i predicted that the Rams would only get 17 points, considering the spread was 14 1/2 and just about everyone expected the Rams to score above 30 or 40. THAT IS PRETTY FUCKING IMPRESSIVE!! Its not like if the pats had won 10-7 and i predicted 28-7, then it would be different. But, i obviously gave the Patriots D' more respect than you did if I said 17 and you said 20 for the game. If the Rams werent favored by 14 1/2 to win and i had predicted the same score, 27-17, it wouldnt be a big deal getting their score right. But the fact is that they were heavy favorites, and i knew it was bogus right away. I wanted both of us to have custom statuses and declare a tie because we both have good points, but it dont seem like you want it that way, so fuck it, neither do i. I just wanted to say congrats to the Patriots and their fans. I for one never gave them a shot and even went so far as to call them flukes because of the previous two playoff games. Truth is they came to play last night and fully deserved the win. Congrats again. That said, I do have to bring up one point that I haven't seen discussed anywhere. Keep in mind I do believe the Pats are the rightful champs, but didn't anyone else notice that there were still 2 seconds left on the clock once Vinatieri's kick cleared the posts? The Rams rightfully should have been allowed one last shot at a kickoff return. If they did and scored, then the final score would have been Rams 23 - Pats 20 and I would be the clear cut winner of this contest. ;)

Well using your logic about which person logged in first and predicted a score, I started a thread about how bogus the spread was. Once again, I win!!!!!!! The fact is. We both predicted the same over/under. I predicted a closer game. My other "secondary" prediction was that it would be a last play Super Bowl. You predicted Troy Brown Superbowl (which let's be honest kid, is what you meant when you talked about special teams....not Vinatieri) I don't really spend much time in the Sports Forum anyway, so maybe you win one of these contests for another sport and get a cool status there. But as for this one, you got no chance. I'm going to have to think long and hard about what my status should be.... | ||||

Granted, i said Troy Brown would be MVP because he could return a punt for a TD, but i meant their special teams OVERALL would do the Rams in. I have evidence in my favor for that, because if it werent for their special teams, they wouldntve even been in the super bowl, thus then i wouldntve said that special teams would be the difference. And yes you logged in first and started up a thread about the super bowl, but you didnt make a prediction until way after i did. So, I WAS FIRST! In conclusion, all of this means that calling the superbowl to end on a last second play is no big deal at all, ESPECIALLY since it was a last second FG, not a last second TD. I'm not trying to say that I predicted EXACTLY that the Pats were going to win on the last play so you can bring in your abacus and other math formulas. I predicted a last play superbowl and it was. However, I will reiterate. Regardless of all other predictions. Every prediction contest that I've ever seen in my life goes by final score, then the tie breaker is margin of victory. After that goes closest to total points scored. Slice it anyway you want, you did great, but just not good enough. That's why this little faux argument was so enticing for me. I knew there was no actual basis for argument. You have no claim on victory, which is exactly why you offered a draw. Start preparing for the NBA and NHL finals tough guy, cuz you are shit out of luck. | ||||

Everyone's saying this is one of the best SuperBowls ever, but aside from the last few minutes of the 4th quarter and ensuing melee in Boston afterwards, I thought it was a fairl subpar game. | ||||

If you wanted a low scoring game and predicted the Pats defense to stop the Rams offense, then why in God's name would you fall asleep during this game? This was 1 of the top 3 super bowls of all time in my opinion. The schemes used by Belichek to stun the "unbeatable" Rams were awesome. That bend but dont break defense that you like to see so much was just that last night. Personally, i dont think anyone should get any kind of reward for a prediction when they admit to falling asleep during the game because it was "boring". That is pretty pathetic if you ask me. And FB, am i copying your status? I dont think so jackass, actually i am tooling on myself by stating sarcastically that if the AP says it, it must be true.
