Wow, I'm in the same boat as SA & Header.
Now I'm not.
Im an "Office Technician" and Certified Asbestos inspector for an infrastructure engineering firm. Basicly a glorified pencil pusher. But there are a lot of alchoholic women who work here who get all touchy feely when they drink so it's all good.
I much prefered my old job as a traffic manager for a sports publishing company. Those were good times, and great seats.
Here's what I don't want:
Long commute (i.e., more than 1/2 hour)
Long hours
Overtime
Boring
Here's what I do want:
People-oriented
Some type of service (whether it be travel, medical, word processing, etc)
Decent money
So far it looks like Header and I should collaborate on something.
I can't draw, so graphic arts is out. I don't want to go back to school for more than a year,
I've done those stupid career aptitude tests...they all tell me the same thing. Teacher or air traffic controller.
To add insult to injury, as far as I know there are no major companies around here, unless I want to travel an hour or so. If I wanted to do that, I'd go work in A.C.
What I want to do is write and or work in film production or photography. Currently that is only available as a side hobby when I have the time. Gotta pay the bills so I figure if I could get into something remotely related like copywriting/editing, that would be good for now.
Working on a book in my spare time but face it no one's gonna read it.
